would be very pleased to have Virgs back. Could he be our reserve option up front or could he figure in midfield ? We seem pretty strong at the back (apart from LB)

Hopefully Richards will be signed up in due course - I just hope that Adams isn't tempted to re-sign Kerry!

Would be a great signing, with our key youth players developing this will add real depth to the squad.

Yes lets hope Richards signs as well. Mickey attracting players lets hope he gets them playing well.

Would be a totally pointless signing based on nostalgia alone. We have four centre halves, Whing as a right back and El Abd as cover. That only leaves space for Virgo as a striker, which is not his preferred position. This has to be either:

A). Nonsense
B). A replacement for Elphick
C). Just a really foolish decision

What next - Tiltman back to boost the forward line, Rod Thomas back on the wing. Can we please stop looking backwards and start looking forwards?

I could see Virgo playing in midfield in a Jimmy Case type way.

I feel if Virgo signs then Elphick will be sold,i dont have a problem with that ,good business !

I'm struggling to remember exactly how good a defender/midfielder Virgo was and apart from looking like an obvious backward step, would it be weakening the squad (Virgo for Elphick)? We haven't seen him for a couple of years and Colchester fans don't seem to be too impressed.

I thought the source on the other link said he was given a free from Celtic?

Strongly disgree, irrespective of whether the story is true or not.

Just because he has played for us before should NEVER be a reason to preclude us from signing him. It's whether he's any good that's the issue. And we all know he is.

Agree completely with that. Ask yourself - If Virgo had never left the Albion for Celtic would he playing now? I think the answer is yes. We need him more than ever with Tank going and is a very versatile player that gives managers lots of options when they need to re-arrange a side in a match.

Elphick and Virgs at the back with El-Abd playing defensive midfield. I like that.

We all know he was.

If the old Virgo is the guy we get back then great, welcome back Adam but don't expect any commission from the £1.4 Million profit.

Wierdly enough, and of course I have no hard and fast evidence for this, I believe the difference between Virgo being a decent player and a mediocre player is the same difference between him playing for Brighton and him playing for someone else.

What I mean is - he plays that bit better playing for his hometown club, with all the positives that entails.

Virgo is a better option off the bench as a striker than either Dixon or Gatting, and if Murray or Forster are out injured I'd rather see Virgo starting up there than either of those other two. Adding into the fact he's able to cover 3 or 4 positions if needed at this level, I'd be quite happy to see him back.
