chappers,
you misread biscuit's post.
he said he would rather watch brighton play wigan rather than man utd play arsenal NOT he would rather watch brighton play wigan than brighton play man utd or brighton play arsenal. i agree with him on this point.

however, other than that, the only sensible thing biscuit has contributed to this thread is the bird in his avatar, the rest of it is complete and utter shite.

i love watching the premierSHIP and think it is the most exciting league to watch in the world.

also, i think that having less foreign players would not lead to a better england national team. The foreign players in the premierSHIP mean that the English players good enough to compete with them and thereforre play for our country improve by playing with better players. I see no good reason why the premierSHIP should have players like John Harley playing in it purely because a better foreign player can't play because of some limit on the number of foreign players allowed in your team at one time. John Harley will never play for England so what is the need for him to be playing in the premierSHIP rather than the Cocal Cola Championship?

oh, and biscuit,
NSP is not childish and immature, it just realises that internet message boards are not real life and therefore should rarely be taken seriously. Some people on nsc could do with holding this attitude as well.

Fret not, we've started by rarely taking you seriously.

Sake. "French football is crap" and "any league where Werder Bremen are champions must be crap". You actually watched any of the football played in those leagues? Bremen are so crap, the guy who scored the winner in Euro 2004 sits on the bench for them! Some of the football they played last season was brilliant, including an absolute tonking of Hamburg SV (ha ha!) and they blasted past Bayern Munich.
The quality of passing, movement and ball control in German league football is superior to that played by all the teams in the Premiership bar Arsenal and Manchester United. The game is played at a much slower pace, allowing for well constructed attacks. Big hoofs out of defence are rarely seen, even in lower league football.
The bare facts are that only 1 English team has made it to the European Cup final since the ban on English teams was lifted. The England national sides best result in international tournaments since the Premiership was formed is a quarter final in the World Cup 2002 (the same as the USA) and a semi-final in Euro 1996 (which we hosted). For the amount of money that is poured into (and taken out of) English football that is simply not good enough.
The sooner we start to move away from the "rushing up and down the pitch" style of football that gets played in this country, the better we will be.

This is the best post on football I've seen on here for a fair while. I agree entirely with its logic and conclusions, and long for the day that Albion will have the resources to develop beyond our current style of play, until then, it's Charles Taylor "English" football for us ;)

:clap2:

This is the most sensible post on this thread. In all honesty, I can't see an English club winning the Champions League this year nor England winning (or even getting to the final) of the next World Cup,

The 'best league in the world' is a long way short of proper footballing quality and gets found out time and time again in international competitions.

But would the spectators be happy about watching a team that slowed the pace down and tried to play measured football? Do we get the football teams we deserve?

Why shouldn't he be serious? I would also rather watch Brighton than the Premiership any time - I support Brighton and that is what gives it the edge, even though the football is not "quality". The passion is missing when watching a team you don't support and I don't support any team in the Premiership. Yes, if you want to watch "showpiece" football then the Premiership or Europe is for you, but being emotionally involved makes it much more enjoyable for me.

Well said, Biscuit!

The premiership is predictable. It is a comment often made against Scottish football that it is dominated by the big two. Well we have it here. Except with Abramovich it is now three.

You could say the championship is predictable, but each year there are different clubs and players, and teams can come through and challenge for the top.

I can admire some of the skills of the top players in the premiership, but that is as far as it goes. If you do not bother with Sky you don't see the "big game" hype, and from a distance you see if for what it is.

Of course it is different when you support a team. But the Albion for me over the Premiership anytime.

Afternoon James,
I didnt mention NSP's at all? In fact during this thread it didnt cross my mind at all!

I disagree with you on the most exciting league in the world. But glad you'd rather watch brighton than arsenal.

"however, other than that, the only sensible thing biscuit has contributed to this thread is the bird in his avatar, the rest of it is complete and utter shite." Slightly harsh mate. Its an opinion and I do back it up. If you disagree thats the point of a thread.

Cheers for the support fran.

Just thought I'd say, Bisquit, that I too would rather watch the Albion stuff Wigan than Man Utd play Chelski. However I am in disagreement that the Premiershit is shit, I think it's the best in Europe. Italian football is dull and uninspiring (and full of dirty, cheating, spitting primiadonnas), German football is okay but I think lacks the pazazz (sp?) of the Premiership and French footie goes more to form than English footie meaning there are less upsets and drama.

I respect your opinions and all that but I believe your view of the Premiership is borne out of jealousy.

much as the support from fran was lovely, she actually missed the fact that chappers had misread your post. he actually agrees with your sentiment, as he has shown further down. fran would have realised this had she read the whole thread, especially as i point it out at the top of page 4.

you, fran and chappers all agree on the same point but all got confused and started aguing with each other. :lolol:

The Premiership

I can't help but dislike it because of your 'average' premiership fan who doesn't attend matches but feels the need to take the piss out of you for watching lower league football.

I hate it when people say, 'Who's your Premiership team'. I have no attachment to any of them. I couldn't care less. I would not watch Man City Vs Middlesborough on a Monday night because the quality is good. I couldn't give a monkeys about the match.

It's predictable. Liverpool may have been great in the 80's but thats pre-Sky Sports. It certainly has its moments. It's main asset though is the 'money glamour'. Formula One is a glamour sport and that is the only reason you can still watch the races on ITV. The racing is crap. The Premiership isn't crap, far from it.

The only reasons I pay attention to it is down to my love of football and its media exposure. I'd much rather watch the lower league highlights on a Saturday night but the best you can get is the goals on Sky Sports News. There's a general intrest but The Premiership "ain't that great". Well, Southampton vs Leicester certainly wasn't last year (0-0), or Chelsea vs Charlton (1-0) for that matter and they've spent millions.

Really?

You'd rather watch the highlights of dire lower league encounters like Leyton Orient vs Bury than say......Liverpool vs Man Utd?

French football is so crap that the team finishing 7th in their league last year reached the UEFA cup final comfortably beating the 4th and 5th teams in the "best league in the world" on the way to the final.

Looks at the exagerations though. It's not Liverpool Vs Man Utd every week is it. It's Man Utd Vs Fulham or something. As for Oreint vs Bury. As if that would be a featured game. ;) I would much rather watch 'Championship' highlights than 'Premiership' highlights though. Then the better League One/League Two games are probably on the same level as the Prem. For me. :)

OK, so lets say that on Saturday night at 10.30pm, the BBC had Match of the Day, whilst at the same time, ITV had an hour and a halfs roundup of the Coke Leagues, with highlights from "The Championship" and some of the lower league games.

And lets say the battery in your remote control had run out. And you are tired, pissed and emotional from a heavy session in the pub, and you just want to flop down in front of the box with your kebab and watch some football.

Which channel would you set the TV to ? (remembering you can't flick, and you certainly can't be arsed to keep getting up to change channels).

RICHARD, i know you didn't mention it in this thread but i am sure you have said to someone.

I agree with what YOU said TURKEY said there.
BUT
I COMPLETELY DISAGREE with turkey when he says he hates being asked 'who is your premiership team?'
I f***ing LOVE it when people ask me that, it makes me feel smug and above them when i say i don't have one. I don't even have to even vaguely, implicitly indicate that this makes me BETTER than them and shows that i am much more of a football fan than they could ever hope to be. They KNOW it from my answer. They feel stupid and i love it.
