Sake. "French football is crap" and "any league where Werder Bremen are champions must be crap". You actually watched any of the football played in those leagues? Bremen are so crap, the guy who scored the winner in Euro 2004 sits on the bench for them! Some of the football they played last season was brilliant, including an absolute tonking of Hamburg SV (ha ha!) and they blasted past Bayern Munich.
The quality of passing, movement and ball control in German league football is superior to that played by all the teams in the Premiership bar Arsenal and Manchester United. The game is played at a much slower pace, allowing for well constructed attacks. Big hoofs out of defence are rarely seen, even in lower league football.
The bare facts are that only 1 English team has made it to the European Cup final since the ban on English teams was lifted. The England national sides best result in international tournaments since the Premiership was formed is a quarter final in the World Cup 2002 (the same as the USA) and a semi-final in Euro 1996 (which we hosted). For the amount of money that is poured into (and taken out of) English football that is simply not good enough.
The sooner we start to move away from the "rushing up and down the pitch" style of football that gets played in this country, the better we will be.

thats not the french league. thats the european cups your talking about. wrong argument mate.

having two good teams does not make a good league. england have about 10 good teams in my opinion ranging from arsenal to teams like villa now. so understand the argument before you make a silly point

So they're crap at home and good in Europe?? You're quite right I don't understand the argument and I'm not sure that you do either. I disagreed that French football was crap, I never said it had a better league than England

Sounds exciting...Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United will all be fighting for the top places in the league? Blimey, you heard it here first!

And the UEFA cup spots...being 'contested' by a majority of fairly good premiership teams?!?

the premiershit is the same year in year out of total shyte.

We need to put stricter rules in regards to signing foreign players, that way we might see more ENGLISH stars playing well and more and more talent for ENGLAND to choose from.

If not, then why not stick the top four teams in a little league of their own so all the five year olds at school can support teams they live nowhere near and have no connections with. The we can have an open, exciting, english league. with english players all competing at a high level.

With all due respect Biscuit, you are talking absolute bollocks.

Like it or loath it, the Premiership is bloody exiting to watch. For the past 5/6 years, the only realistic winners were Arsenal or Manchester United. This season, Chelsea and Liverpool will also have a say and you can never tell what will happen at clubs like Middlesbrough - if Steve MacLaren can find some way of keeping Viduka and Hasselbaink happy and motivated, who knows what they can achieve.

At the other end of the table it will interesting to say the least watching the attempts of Crystal Palace to stay up.

I love The Premiership.

So you'd rather we remain in the lower echelons of the first division than get into the Premiership?? You are talking SHIT, Bisquit. You support the Albion yet you don't want to see them successful??

Stop talking out of your arse.

When did I say that?

I said "I'd rather watch Brighton play Wigan than Man U play Chelsea or Arsenal."

Meaning I'd rather watch Brighton play Wigan, than watch Man U play Chelsea or Arsenal.

Obviously I'd rather see us play Arsenal than Wigan.

:lolol: Jumping to conclusions are we? :lolol: ???

Maybe there are loads of French players over here because English teams pay obscene amounts of money for someone to kick a ball?

There aren't THAT many French players over here really. Outside of Arsenal I can't really name many at all.

Of the top of my head, might be wrong...

Fabien Barthez
William Gallas
Mikael Silvestre
Marcel Desailly
Frank Lebeouf
Emmanuel Petit
Laurent Blanc

french that play in the prem, that don't play for arsenal.

Premiership's just a feeder league to the Champions League now, and getting more so every season. Can only be a matter of time before the first three or four in the Premiership get promoted into the Champions League and just stay there all season. Guess that's why EUFU are insisting that the major European leagues scale down the number of teams in their top tier.

not having a go but when u say arsenal could replace htere best french players then please attempt top name a better striker than henry, a better midfielder than pires and vieira. there isnt any and considering vieira cost only 3 million its the best deal ive seen in the prem. sadly no-one is good enuf so teams like arsenal have to buy foreigners. i know its a sad state of affairs but any good english player will be snapped up by chelsea for there reserves or newcastle(who i very much respect i may add)

thats what pisses me off..good english players playing in the reserves. I know its about winning, but more EU rules need to be implimented.
