Was Jamieson the only GB swimmer to improve on their PB?

Something has gone very wrong with that squad.

I don't want to jump on the pessimism bandwagon. According to the Times Olympic guide, Britain is aiming for between 5-7 medals in all swimming events. This includes the 10km marathon (which we got 2 medals for in Beijing). I think we've just been outclassed on the day by other swimmers - I doubt there's something drastically flawed with the GB swimming squad. Disappointing, yes. A cause for concern, not yet.

I don't see it that way.
Jamieson, was beaten by a WR time, gaining silver with PB & GB record time.
He could have done Gold or come 8th with that time, and he still would have achieved.

Nobody else seemed to dive into that pool able to beat themselves, let alone anybody else.

Aha, the real star of the Swimming at these Games is now being interviewed on BBC1.

Before Beijing GB had an Australian coach as Performance Director who used to really beast the swimmers. Just before those games he was accused of bullying, and he asked to be released from his contract. They then employed an American, who is demonstrably not as successful.

Again that's another 'scandal' I have in the back of my mind, just from being a 5 live listener.

In this day and age there has to be more to coaching than stick stick stick.

But the demeanour of the elite swimmers after losing would suggest something was lacking.

This.

Another "brave" performance with no medal. :-( Mind you, I feel for anyone who trains for years, swims 2 hours and then misses out on a medal by half a second.
Yeah there's no way I can liken that performance to those of the pool.

That's probably outrageously unfair of our pool based athletes, but thems the breaks.

Tom Daley's prelim round is just starting, but no need to tune in for him just yet.

There are 32 divers involved at this stage, each doing 6 dives, and Daley will be diving 29th out of the 32 in each round. The Portuguese representative (a Mr C Ronaldo) and the Selhurstian (W Zaha) are both involved as well and both are heavily tipped for success.

Daley is 18th out of 32 after the first of 6 rounds, and Pete Waterfield is 27th.

The Top 18 after 6 dives each go through to tomorrow morning's semi final, from which the Top 12 qualify for tomorrow evening's final.
