Does anyone know the projected medal haul from the swimmers?

I know they are at the top the of funding, along with T & F and cycling.

Personally I'm not seeing good value for money.

What's a shame is the scheduling of swimming v cycling.

This is the 6th night of swimming having the prime time early evening slot and there have been some wonderful sporting performances. But, for me at least, it's all about Team GB and on that front it's not been all that, has it? Two races on two separate evenings of excitement and the rest has been rather yawnsome.

The cycling is all over before many people are home.

Wait for it:-

'Well I'm really happy with what I did, I couldn't have swam any better, the crowd are great'.

Once again being talked up, when she rolls in 6th, we'll here the above, along with 'roll on Rio'.

We're now spending £100m of lottery money a year for elite sports people. Yet they appear to spend as much time appearing in adverts etc. and then not producing in the olympics which they are supposed to be aiming for.

Totally agree and been very underwhelmed by the plucky GB (highly funded) swimmers and there "taking part not winning attitude" give the funding to the handball, volleyball, hockey teams.

Although our swimmers are finishing 6th and 7th on a regular basis and people don't think that is good enough, they are making the final. Taking a positive view I don't recall so many GB swimmers in so many Olympic finals.

Our only real Gold medal hope swims tonight at 7.45 . 800 metres is her best event, it was always going to be harder to defend the 400 metre gold.

6 medals was considered par. Other than Adlington, where are the other 3 going to come from?

I heard they were talking as many as 9 medals with an expectation of 7 - with the notable exceptions of Adlington and Jamieson to come to a home olympics with the amount of funding provided and perform so badly is inexcusable. Many swimmers performing well below their PB in the biggest meet they will ever attend. Heads need to roll amongst the people who organise our national swimming programme. Plucky loser speeches wearing very thin and Halsalls excuse that "they are bigger than me" sounded very desperate.

6 medals looks unlikely.

I think I'm trying to convince myself a little that we are doing well.

However if Rebbeca Adlington wins in what is considered to be a two horse race in the 800m, I forgot about Keri-anne payne's chance in the 10K open water, two Golds would be amazing.

Bronze and Silver are huge achievements but in years to come people only tend to remember the Golds....Wilkie, Goodhew, Moorhouse etc. When was the last time we had two different gold medal winners at one olympics....Although we don't have one yet I'm still trying to stay positive.

Come On Adlington!!!!
