We do have a gold medal winner - from Plymouth. Unfortunately she's Lithuanian.

I think we're showing true British spirit. Get to the final and think you've done really well to get there, but we're only GB. We can't beat the USA. FRANCE are winning goals in the pool ffs, we ARE good enough to win medals. They just don't really seem too concerned, as long as they make the final they seem to think they've done enough. Getting there is brilliant, no-one would argue with that, but come on!
For me the Track part of Track and Field, are the worst when it comes to this.

I love all the nations competing together, but I do expect more from our elite athletes.

I agree. I have nothing against our people not beating themselves up for losing, but they don't really seem to disappointed not to have really challenged for the medals. There seems a bit of a reluctance to really expect themselves to get a medal. Maybe I'm being harsh, but I don't think so. I'm not saying they should be winning medals, all the swimmers in the final are quality swimmers and there's absolutely no shame in losing to the people they're losing to. It's just their reaction to it that I find strange.

Phillips (the triple jumper) came away from either the Worlds or last Olympics, with a silver.
He spoke into camera and was as we have been saying.
Only in the lead up to this, has he said the result in question nearly broke him in 2.
He was devastated to lose 'his medal'.

So why look into the camera and say 'well that was still a good result for me'.

I think I locked horns with Barrel of Fun over this, 4 years ago!

We're now spending £100m of lottery money a year for elite sports people. Yet they appear to spend as much time appearing in adverts etc. and then not producing in the olympics which they are supposed to be aiming for.

Wonderful stuff from Jamieson there - finally giving those in the Aquatics Centre something to really cheer about!

Let's hope he can pull off a similar performance in the final. Could be in with a real shot of getting a second medal for GB in the aquatics centre.

Good stuff, GB record, loses to a WR, but gets a silver.

Not enough to rescue the swimming, on it's own, but hopefully a couple more can make up for the lack lustre start.

How is it, which ever lane the Brit is in, is, perfect, the best lane, blah blah blah.

This one is now being talked up from lane eight, the slowest qualifier.

We'll see.
