Happy day. It seems more likely we now have people in charge that will focus firmly on addressing the dire state of the country. That would be refreshing after so many wasted years of politicians protecting their own interests and making their mates rich. Honesty and integrity are the key. Stop pretending difficult problems have black and white solutions. Don't propagate division.

The sad undercurrent is the number of people gravitating to the far right. The age old excuse of blaming immigrants/foreigners for our own issues. That's only going to grow unless Labour gets the country functioning properly and addresses those fears with positive improvements for everyone. It's the biggest challenge I think. You can't ignore them, that's how we ended up with the self-destruction of Brexit. But you don't have to pander to bigots either - which has been the Tory approach. Prove there's a different way. Try to improve life for everyone and quell the discontent that manipulative liars like Farage feed and exploit.

Greens and Reform have the same number of seats, but one has its own entry on the BBC results tracker and one is lumped in with "Others". Bet you can guess which is which.
I get you, but then again Reform gained 14% of the total national vote which is more than Lib Dems, a quirk of the electoral system, but I can see why they are getting more coverage.

So posh boy Johnson, the ridiculous Liz Truss and the spiv Sunak will disappear out of sight like the political non entities they are. Consigned to being little more than footnotes in the history of this country.

Ironic given their vote share was less than their poll prediction, against a Tory party that are as popular as a fart in a space suit.

In reality only about one in ten of us are THAT fascist. The vast majority of British people are fair, reasonable and intelligent
This exactly.

In comparison to what is going on in Europe and the US, that should give us all a little national pride this morning I think.

Was speaking with a Reform representative yesterday who really believed that Reform was not anything like the far right/hard right parties represented in the European Parliament - didn’t actually have a clue how Farage is linked to people like Viktor Orbán, Trump, Putin and Bannon etc. Just thought he was the only one that could ‘reform’ the NHS and not put up taxes etc. That’s the key to his popularity - “ nice, well spoken, well educated, well dressed, white boy, a man of the people who has Britains best interests at heart and is an acceptable face of the British middle-class establishmet”. He’s the archetypal wolf in sheep’s clothing;

Sunak to make statement at 10.30am

Starmer to address nation at about 12.20pm

PA Media reports he will then travel to Buckingham Palace for an audience with the King, where he is expected to formally tender his resignation.

Then Keir Starmer will see the King at the palace.

He will be appointed as the country’s next prime minister and asked to form an administration. He will then be driven to Downing Street to address the nation for the first time as prime minister at around 12.20pm.

Timings are subject to change, No 10 noted.
PM for half a day? 😲

Lewes and Eastbourne Liberals on large majorities. noted other Liberal wins with solid majorities, while a lot of Labour wins are quite narrow.

Farage is a narcissist more than anything else.

How people can't see through him is beyond me.

I think the takeaway from this election is obvious. Who outperformed the Exit Poll the most? The Lib Dems.

Therefore, the story is clear. Party leaders should do more stunts on the election trail.

Sunak will announce that he is standing down as leader and the bunfight for what remains of the Tories will begin.

Hopefully Sunak will show a tad more grace in defeat than during the campaign. The lying and the personal attacks on Starmer were pretty poor.
