Middlesbrough is awful. The whole Teesside area stinks.
They are smog monsters, glad they are no longer part of Yorkshire

Cheaper booze up north.

Not in York it isn't
WrongRight?
It's not Marsden is it EP? It's very 'local', if you get my drift.![]()
There are only eight pubs still open in Manchester? No, but it does begin with an 'M'!
Or
The north. Mostly shit with the odd bright spot ruined by northerners.
You could replace The North with The South in that case (including the rest of your postulation) & it could be just as applicable.

It's not the locations.
It's Northerners.
Bar Yorkshire the rest is pretty pants, Yorkshire is lovely, some brilliant towns and cities... And it's where most of our Olympic medals came from.
When I'm on my way up to Manchester on the train from Euston and pass Stoke, Stockport etc I think to myself "I'm so lucky to live in Brighton"
But you never see the best parts of an area from a train, as a general rule. Get off the beaten track and visit the Pennines or Peak District and you'll find there are gems to found amongst all the rough diamonds. You might as well judge the South by looking at Slough, Croydon, Portmouth and Crawley. Bolton and Preston are very nice if you like Victorian Houses and cobbled streets - there's a real LS Lowery feel to the place.
