The north. It's a shithole

I live in Sheffield for 8/9 months of the year, and it's a cracking city. Certain towns are dumps, yes, but then I cant say towns like Gillingham, Portsmouth and Crawley are lovely.

I've met far more w*nkers down here than I have up there. In fact, a lot of people I know from down south, have stayed in Sheffield/Leeds all summer rather than coming home. Can't be that bad.

The posh bit
Or

The north. Mostly shit with the odd bright spot ruined by northerners.

You could replace The North with The South in that case (including the rest of your postulation) & it could be just as applicable.

:fishing:

The south. Mostly shit with the odd bright spot ruined by northerners...?

Not that many northern twats spoiling the south

Re the cheap beer bit... Not always the case, I paid £4.40 for a lager in Manchester the other day. I nearly cried into my plate of bread and dripping!

Am I correct in thinking if we draw a border line at watford gap . . we get luton?? Can we not allow special dispensation to aid northeners in accessing luton?

And Southend.

When I'm on my way up to Manchester on the train from Euston and pass Stoke, Stockport etc I think to myself "I'm so lucky to live in Brighton"

Bar Yorkshire the rest is pretty pants, Yorkshire is lovely, some brilliant towns and cities... And it's where most of our Olympic medals came from.

The irony of this thread is that the south-east is the dullest and soulless part of the UK - I'm sure that if it wasn't for London and work associated with being near London, a lot of people would choose to live where there's beautiful countryside etc....

Most of Yorkshire is lovely but then there are places like Rotherham and Doncaster.

But you never see the best parts of an area from a train, as a general rule. Get off the beaten track and visit the Pennines or Peak District and you'll find there are gems to found amongst all the rough diamonds. You might as well judge the South by looking at Slough, Croydon, Portmouth and Crawley. Bolton and Preston are very nice if you like Victorian Houses and cobbled streets - there's a real LS Lowery feel to the place.

Very true, not going to argue with that. Everywhere has their hidden gems.
