Relegation to the SCFL for Haywards Heath as they lose to Redbridge 3-2, after leading 2-0 at half-time.
Crawley Down Gatwick were unable to beat Sutton Common Rovers, losing 2-0, so will likely remain in the SCFL.

In better news, Worthing have cemented a play-off spot by finishing 4th so have a home tie versus Braintree on Wednesday (thanks for the update!).
And in league football, Crawley will remain in League Two for another season with a goalless draw against Walsall.

Will Dulwich Hamlet head down to the Isthmian Premier? The biggest attendance by far in that league (average of 2,000+) and yet the squad couldn't manage to stay up with Dover replacing them.

I think that Worthing have a good chance of promotion, Braintree (who they beat fairly recently) then Oxford City (stronger, but may be lacking some form) and hopefully a home tie versus Chelmsford or St Albans.
If it is Dartford it would be tricky, since it would be an away final, but they have been slightly shaky in their recent games.

On top of that group of Dover "fans" ruining the whole mood of the opening day for us, can add on the disscontempt the club showed to travelling teams by not sorting an early pitch inspection when it was clear games would get called off because of a waterlogged pitch, refusing to allow away team radio stations from broadcasting from the ground (only team in the league to do that afaik) and their general lack of class as to why there is such the dislike from many in the league towards them.

The only other time I can recall any other issues with opposing fans was with Dartford, but it was only four or five young lads who decided it would be a smart idea to stand near the Worthing singing section when Dartford were already 3-0 down and then try to goad someone into fighting them. No one took the bait and they were quickly turfed out by security.

Should be a great atmosphere. Just clocked that the discounted online adult tickets have sold out - though am unsure how much of the allocation would have been at that online discount. Still adult tickets at the regular matchday price of £15 available, but should hopefully mean a packed out Woodside come Wednesday evening.

I thought Newhaven were the better side first half but Crowborough had the two best chances (1on1 and hitting the crossbar).

Second half thought it was the exact opposite Crowborough were the better side but Newhaven created the better chances. The first goal was a bit of a freak. Not sure if it went straight in from the corner or it needed the touch from the lad on the line. Have to admit I didn't see the second goal as I was scurrying for cover as the heavens had just opened. Understand it was a scuffed back heal.

Also didn't see Crowborough's consolation at the death as I took the easing up up of the rain as a chance to get back to the car.

No complaints from me. Either side could have won the game. Defences were on top the whole game and it took a bit of luck which unfortunately for us went your way this time. Was stood in the bottom corner towards the railway line and was amused/entertained by your centre half (no 6) and keeper bickering like a married couple for most of the second half. Shame the rain came really, it was more entertaining than the game.

Yes the first goal was straight from the corner and second a backheal helped in a scuffed shot.
We made a good decision to get there early and park on tarmac near the turnstiles. And another good decision to sit in the stand.
The only mistake was to not buy food when we got there as everything had sold out at half time.
Last season’s final at Horsham FC the weather was terrible but at least there was more covered areas to watch the match.

Heading to Arundel this evening for the RUR Cup game, visited the delightful Peckham Town on Monday at a 2:45pm KO. Quite a nice little Step 7 ground considering most of the ones at that level at a park pitch with a rope around it. Heading down to Worthing tomorrow should be a competitive evening. Running out of fixtures now so I've got Brighton U21 on Friday at Fulham's Training Ground, nothing on the Kings Coronation as I'm doing Otley run in Leeds, before taking in Barnsley v Peterborough on the Sunday, then Brighton v Everton on Monday. Theres a couple of cup finals left plus the remaining Brighton fixtures, which should get me to about 220 games for the season.

Oakwell, that reminds me of an evening game back in the 1980's when l was following Albion away, my mate and l arrived early, mid afternoon, the rain was pouring down. The club secretary noticed us outside, invited us in for a cup of tea and to show us their trophy shelf lol.

That would never happen nowadays.

Yes decided against going to Arundel v Broadbridge Heath and went to Peacehaven v Hassocks. Peter Bentley is the SCFL league cup, and the RUR is run by Sussex FA, that’s the difference except the RUR seems to have some Isthmian sides in it to make up the numbers. The RUR is like a Papa John’s Trophy equivalent compared to the Sussex Senior Cup, it allows a smaller team a chance to win a trophy. It took an age to finish last year, with Littlehampton v Saltdean being in very late July if I Remember correctly.

I went to Barnet v Boreham Wood last night in a play-off quarter-final.

After such a great season for the Bees, I feel a bit numb this morning knowing that it's another year in the National League Premier. After giving away a goal after 20 minutes, Barnet never really got going until it was too late (Peter Ndlovu's son, Lee, adding a second right on half-time).

It's bad enough losing an end of season lottery but when it's to your bitter rivals, it's ten times worse. Memories of that Palace defeat still linger. The segregation was poor and there was some really unpleasant goading but fortunately there was a huge number of police and stewards to stop anything really going off. This is not sour grapes, but B.W play some terrible hoof football that is unattractive to watch. I wish them luck in their semi-final away to Notts County, who accumulated 107 points, because, by jove, they're going to need it!

Who knows? Next season there could be Worthing in the top tier of non-league football. That would be a great day out!

It is a shame. Personally, I don't want Boreham Wood anywhere near the football league and I hope Notts County do it. Saying that, Conference playoffs are have a habit of being cruel which could definitely work in the favour of Worthing.

I remember Eastbourne Borough missing out when the final was still the winners of the North and South winners then going up a couple of years later. It is a great feeling, especially if Worthing do it and then manage to stay up.
