So basically the police have not even found these men but you have charged them, found them guilty and killed them already, do you see what's wrong with that?

Think you might be twisting things, it goes without saying that a guilty verdict would need passing before any action would be taken.

There are numerous reports of prisoners living a life of luxury, It's far too common.

What you have said in the other post (which i cant be bothered to go back and quote) does happen but only in Category C prisons, basically where the inmates havent done "serious" crimes in the eyes of the law, things like theft, criminal damage etc. Murderers and im fairly sure, rapists, wouldnt be filed as Category C, most likely they are A.

Are you saying the justice system works on gradings of guilt? One conviction is more guilty than another? You are absolutely guilty of murder, or you do appear to be pretty much sure of being guilty of this murder, one gets the DP and one gets life in prisonment? You're asking me to be clear when your own argument is one great grey area!?

Nope I meant it would be helpful to debate the issue without that red herring.

If somehow you could be offered certain guilt, then your view wouldn't change, so lets move on and away from the 'innocent man syndrome'.

Without wanting to take from the seriousness of the crime - is your real anger because it was a 14 year old BOY. What about say a 15 or 16 year old girl would that make a difference.

And yes the death penalty would be wrong for any crime - murder included. They should of course be left to langrish in a cell for 23 hours a day with no privileges of any kind other than the basic food and clothes that they need. They should be made to slowly suffer for the crime they committed. Unfortunately, it seems that unless you live in the likes of America, that will just never happen. There are too many humanitatirans out there who want to fight for the rights of the accused. Any kind of death penalty would be too quick for them They should be left to rot.

Its very easy to say in anger that he/she should be hung. But lets be honest in most of these cases hanging is too good for them.

Pork pie land.
Timothy Evans was supposed to have murdered his wife and daughter, all the evidence presented pointed with certainty he had done it. The jury took just 40mins to convict him and he was sentenced for execution.

Only he was completely and utterly innocent, his wife and daughter murdered by serial killer and neighbour John Christie.

How many innocent people is it worth?

With modern forensic science, CCTV etc., there can be very little doubt. Where there is doubt, what is wrong with waiting like in the USA?

A handful of wrong convictions does not justify not topping any of these people.

With regards to what I posted earlier in the thread on how soft the prison service Is.

THIS on so many levels.

Anyone who bangs on about how easy prisons are should try and spend some time in one. Trust me, they are not places most people would choose to be. On my work-related visits to several prisons, women's and men's, I couldn't leave quickly enough (I found the women's prisons even more depressing: take away the testosterone-fuelled machismo and all you have left is the stench of despair).

Of course there are some people who prefer to be inside than out; the question that poses for me isn't "how can we make prison worse" but "what the hell has happened to that person's life outside to make prison preferable".

People prefer easy "common sense" (surely a contender for the most misused phrase in our language?) to the difficult and uncomfortable process of learning.

I made the mistake of watching Silent Witness.
Bit shit really, anyway once I'd started I stayed with it.

It did highlight an interesting 'eye for an eye' quandary.

Law abiding, upstanding fella's, step daughter is groomed, raped, and readied for prostitution.

Father sees the mobile phone footage of his daughters ordeal, after the case is broken but before arrests.
(Like I said the programme was a bit sh*t)

Anyway, father beats ring leader to death.

What's the ACTUAL sentence?

What's your sentence?

If we had the death penalty and 10% of the people we killed turned out to innocent is that acceptable? If it's 5% is that acceptable? How about 1% is that acceptable? If just one innocent person killed acceptable if all the rest were guilty?

And you're advocating a worse crime ? Give me a break. Take away all their rights and iliberty by all means, but if you took their life you're worse than them, they didn't kill any one.

The worst crime would be to give them the chance to ever do it again, as has happened before
