I agree - Stalin was a monster. However, although they are no angels I wouldnt comapre Medvedev and Putin with Stalin. To go back to my point, though, the leaders of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, etc are no pussycats either.

Quite so but at least they can torture their own people without Moscow interferring. Frankly it's all around, look at the insanity in Burma who refused foriegn aid after the cyclone or that bastard Ceauşescu in Romania. There's the various crooks who run most of the countries of South America and South Asia, tragically this list seems endless.

No, the airport is running normally again....plus I didnt start the thread.
These attacks are for a reason.

And the justifiable reason is exactly what ??, I've said on here before and will say it again, unless Islam followers give us a clear and concise insight to their religion then what are we to think ?? One minute its one of peace, the next it's something else. Ask 4 muslims the same question, I guarantee you'll get 4 separate answers Therefore they don't help us understand their ideology. Qatar World Cup, cant wait to see their levels of tolerance. Good luck with that project !!

Apart from the fact that the issue here is an insurgency to gain independence for one of the Russian states, your post shows great comprehension of Russian current affairs. Still, you got your anti muslim opinion in there, well done...Makes you look smart ;-) ......again.

Dont think the IRA recieved orders directly from the bible or the Vatican.

you'd be surprised.

and i take your point about freedom fighters (one man's terrorist, etc., etc.) but to create a caliphate in the region is not even remotely justifiable.

Yes, well done you for seizing on the recent bombing of innocent human beings to provoke a reaction on the internet for your own personal amusement. Oh how we laughed as their shattered limbs were scraped off the airport walls.

well done. the incident is irrelevant. posting something that insinuates terrorist acts are casued in the name of religion is a provocative idea. was interested to see where we go...

I must have missed the Moscow airport bombing instructions chapter. Maybe it was in a special appendix at the back of the Koran because it doesn't rhyme?

it's part of the box-set. but then i guess that depends who you ask.

I am sorry BUT they are not. they are getting their ideas from Immams who interpret what the Koran says...If you listen to teh Council of Muslims in the UK, for every " kill a unbeliever" statement in the Koran, they can point at 100 other places where it says the opposite.

Trouble is if it is not God these people use as their excuse, it could just as easily be something else....colour of skin, " looking at me in a funny way"......

that's the point. it's someone interpreting it as that. in this case the immams. doesn't matter if they're not the ones themselves doing the bombing.

and i disagree with your second point. racism is one thing, but nothing stirs the emotions like doing god's will, or the promise of infinite bliss/virgins.

But, 95% of Chechnya is Sunni Muslim... and has been for the last couple of hundred years, and been oppressed by first the Tsar and then the Bolsheviks.... a muslim state already exists there if you see the state as the people.....rather than a land mass.

Does that apply to "Christ followers" and the activities of the UVF/PIRA/UFF/INLA?

just as a clarification, a "people" is defined as a nation, not a state. ie, Wales is a nation, with in the state of the UK.

Point taken...my point was towards the ...you cant create a caliphate in the region... by the look of it, theres already one there if Chechnya is 95% sunni muslim and has been for a couple of hundred years...

Nobody denies the fact that a Muslim carried out the attack. The state that he represents...is a majority muslim state, would be fairly remarkable if he belonged to another religion. Its funny, but, I dont remember people saying ...oh...Catholics... whenever the IRA made something go bang.

That's because the only catholics that killed themselves were those that failed their bomb-making courses.

He goes on to argue that Muslims are under attack all over the world, talking at length about the situation in Sudan, and condemns "Zionist and Christian regimes led by Israel and America".

Mr Umarov says that he and his fighters "are waging jihad in the Caucasus today to establish the word of Allah", and there are "hundreds more brothers" ready to sacrifice themselves to that end, in the fight with Russia's "racist regime".

Think I would rather have Putin as head of state rather than this looney!

mmmmm...not usre that holds water really.

the only examples I can think of are ETA and IRA, both groups did not employ suicide bombers ( although you could argue the japs did in the last war) also in 99% of IRA/ETA bombings of "public targets", warnings were given.....not brilliant ones I grant you but they at least gave people the chance to run away...some terrorist with a bomb strapped to him/her standing next to you and you have no chance!

May be worth looking back at the events of the Warrington bombing.

The first failed attack was on the gas works during the night. If that had been successful, we'd be looking back the biggest post war explosion in the country.

Very clear in my mind, I lived round the corner at the time. This would have been a big one - our 9/11 if you like.

There was also the rather cynical revenge attack - where a bomb went off on one side of the street, leading people to run in the direction of another that subsequently exploded.

No clear warnings were given about any of the attacks as far as I remember and were targeted very clearly at members of the general public.
