So again kick off for the first game next season will depend on the tv stations, Hebbard will not have a say in it, the police would be unlikely to object and as for someone saying it cant be a late kick off because it will be dark when the game finishes

As a rule, is it easy to organise something (lets say the egress of 22000-odd football supporters from a new stadium for the first time)?
a) In broad daylight.
or
b) In the dark.

As i said previously a FULL dress rehearsal will have to happen before opening the league season, so it wont be the first time.
Some of the other ramp up events may happen at night time i.e. a concert with maybe 75% capacity which will not be too dissimilar to full capacity anyway but it wont make any difference to whether the first game is at night time or not, we have to have a first evening game some time whether it be day 1 or in the first couple of weeks.

I'm sure it's been said already that the first full capacity event will be the first league game.

I am if you are referring to a match that took place in a small town just outside of Wales.
We will NEVER have a bigger game than that.
Both games, Hereford & Falmer, do rather neatly 'book-end' the clubs fortunes.

I can feel a 'biggest ever game' poll coming on, perhaps I'll get round to it, after tea.

I thought any game against leeds/southampton/sheffield wednesday would be the biggest in our history?

As I will be on my bike, let's make it the loser buys 4 pints in total, 1 each both before and after the game?

But how many STH want to go to a pre season game against "premier" or foreign opponents which will involve about 16 substitutions and be played with one eye on the following weekend and not getting injured.
I for one will not be attending, I want my first game at The Amex to be the first ever 1st class match, and I would imagine there is no way that it will be a full house.
Will the coach companies be putting on special buses for a meaningless friendly where they cannot be guareenteed a full bus?, dont think so.
Will the visiting team bring 1500/2000 supporters?, dont think so

And there are plenty more like you i would imagine, however, and i am being hypothetical here, If it was against Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea etc and say a fiver or tenner ahead i would bet for every STH who wont go, there is a non STH who would. And all of those clubs could easily sell out the away end. The point is the club have to have a dress rehearsal or they wont get a safety certificate, so it is in there interest to have as many people attend as possible so that they can make sure everything goes to plan BEFORE the season starts.

Anyway i feel as if im banging my head against a brick wall here, Its obvious that most would like a 3pm kick off on the Saturday, i am merely pointing out that the OP is quite correct in suggesting that it may well be televised, and that sentiment wont (be allowed to) alter that.

Agreed, but can you see Man utd, Arsenal , Chelsea etc being there, they all tour abroad or have Emirates Tourney, or Charity Shield, and even if they did, seats that belong to STH's cannot be sold, in case the turn up.

Yes they can, the club often give you a cup game or two for free as part of your season ticket, but dont usually give you a pre-season friendly. And yes, honestly, for the official opening of the stadium, i can see it being against a top club.

It really doesnt matter whether it is full capacity or not, they do have to build up to it and they will be close to full capacity before hand, in order to get the safety certificate.

It really is up to the TV companies.

If the game was a 7.45 ko then a lot of the younger kids might not be able to attend as well (even though it's the school holidays).

Anyone remember our first game in the old first division, equally eagerly awaited and hyped up........

Anyway 3pm kickoff for me with a feature on the football league show and being totally ignored by local tv should just about sum up the general interest outside (and inside) of Sussex
