The more I think about it , the more unlikely I think a 3pm kick off on 6th August is

I have absolutely no problem with the time of the kick off, nor with whether it's televised or not.
But it MUST be the 6th.

No way it will be 12.15. Given that here no-one has sat in their seat before or done the journey to the ground on a matchday. It will be CHAOS.

So every one is going to get to the stadium 4 minutes before kick off (either 12:15 3pm or 5:20) as no one has ever gone the stadium before!! Or is able to read what seat they are in or follow the signs to said seat. So you don't think this might be ironed out in the 3 games at the stadium prior to August 6th or 7th

If I get a ticket for the opening game I will be there HOURS before kick off to have a good look round, take in the atmosphere and give the stadium the respect it deserves, we have waited long enough for it, least we can do it take the time to see everything it has to offer and not rush in with minutes to go before kick off

12.15 wouldn't allow for pre-match festivities and allow our opponents the time to get to the stadium. I also imagine the first match will be the first time the stadium is full or close to it (depending on away numbers), and what if something goes wrong (power outage, etc.) they won't want that on TV, would they?

I can see a "live from the ground video report" (i.e. not tony millard on the phone), and I can see a video package and extended highlights on ssn, but I agree with notters -whist this is a major moment in our club's history, it isn't a major moment in football, so won't get overly special treatment from the media.

Thought there are only two ramp-up events?
- Sussex Senior Cup Final
- Glamour Friendly 30th July

Just because it's probably our biggest ever game, it doesn't mean it's football's biggest.
The only way we would be on TV, for this one, is dependant on who we play.
The 3 relegated premiership teams fixtures will get looked at before ours, we will be on a par with play-off loser.

(All this if we go up, as champions)

It is quite a major moment though. I think the closer it gets the media will want to have a piece of the story of Brightons resurgance as a club after near extinction.
Most football fans across the country i have spoken to are aware, to some degree, of what happened here.

Unless its a derby or we play a relegated premiership team (if all goes to plan this season) then no one bar us will really care, so can't see it being on tele unless the other fixtures are all poor events for sky

And they have limited attendance (10,000 I think?), so it's not like everyone who turns up on 6th august will know where their seat is, best entrance, how long it's likely to take to get served for their pre-match refreshments and then get to their seat, how long it will take them to get there in the first place, etc.

If AFC Wimbledon get into the football league that would cover the Friday night/Saturday lunchtime game for Sky I reckon. The Wombles certainly wouldn't turn their noses up at the extra money.

I just hope it's a Saturday 3pm kick-off at the AMEX.

I dont think there will only be two football friendlies, they just havent been arranged yet.
The club MUST have several events before opening for the first league game as each one is at an increased capacity.
I believe the first event (sussex senior cup final) will be at 50% of capacity.
The next i think is about 60% then 75% and finally 90% before opening at full capacity.
I could be wrong with my percentages, these are just examples but it is along these lines.
I would imagine the club would want the prestige friendly (official opening) to be at 100%.

As has been said earlier, Brighton dont have a say in whether they will be on tv. They are football league members, the football league agree a deal with the tv companies that there members shall be available for tv coverage, given reasonable notice. This is why the clubs get tv money at the start of each season.
(At least, this is how i understand it).

I dont think it will make any difference to the vast majority of people, it will be a fantastic occasion whenever it is played.
Also some of you are under-estimating just how much the public are interested in this, even here in Scotland i have people saying, when do you move into your new stadium etc. This is a big football story because of how long it has been on-going.

But only two football matches? Couldn't give a f*** about some concert.

The ramp-up is highly likely to be some non-offensive gig to make sure the bogs don't flood and the trains work as per timetable and the event does nothing to offend the grockles in their period of quiet repose. Probably Brian Ferry's cool dinner-jacketed set or Jools Holland's seriously-annoying Big Band or Michael Bubbly or somesuch. Probably won't be anything any sane person would want to attend, other than to check out the facilities and the view from their ST seat.

Isn't FDM's testimonial in amongst the ramp up games ? The FL fixtures list is quite complex but they can set parameters to ensure a home match on August 6th.

Don't mind what time kick off is on the 6th as long as the bar is open a good two hours before kick off !

i'd imagine if there was a 5.20 kick off they would open the bars at 12 would be hell of an atmosphere come 5.20 ? LOL
