We were dining in the Mayo Wynne Baxter lounge. There were around 200 diners there. Don't all the boxes have meals included? If so that's another 200.

Yep... that’d be it. 1k is possible then. Blimey.

They had also squeezed a few into the corner of Italk lounge.

Didn't realise you had to be a Tory to go to a corporate hospitality event.

Of course you don't - it is open to anyone, as it should be. Just that socialists who use it have this rather annoying habit of hypocritically criticising folk who spending their wealth in other areas.

Yes. Makes me wonder what changes we'll see over the Summer. I think the off site Liverpool hospitality was partly an exercise in testing the water to see how much unmet demand there is, with a view to adding more lounges/restaurants/boxes in the Amex for next season. Even if Stanmer didn't fully sell out, it's indicative of latent demand for on-site hospitality as for every diner at Stanmer there were probably several who were put off by the distance.[/QUOTE

Yes, with a relatively large fan base, there will always be demand for hospitality on a causal basis, simply because of price for most folk. 2 years ago our party tried it as a one-off, and though it was expensive, the service, food and view from the reserved seats were all first rate. I would recommend it if you can afford it.

Really? Not experienced that. What "other areas" seem to irk these people?

Are you living on the moon? You've obviously never read criticisms of private education, banking, prawn sandwich brigade, grammar schools, and so much more. And you have never heard of the few and many, so often casually trotted out.

You're not making any sense. You said that people who have socialist beliefs but attend corporate events are all annoyed by other ways that people spend their money.

Now you're talking about vague references to sandwiches and banking. That you've READ.

As with our Trump loving friend earlier in the thread, I don't think you have any idea what socialism means.

I suggest you read it all again -not for the first time you claim that others are not making any sense -probably because you didn't go to grammar school . . I said that champagne socialists are happy to go to corporate events, and qualified it by saying that they should of course go to such things, if they want to. OK? But the tendency for socialists is also to criticise other wealthy folk who choose to spend their money differently, and put it on a plate for you by giving examples. What more do you want?

And as for you assertion that I don't know about socialism -you could not be more wrong. Had you read my posts on other threads (and fair enough if you didn't) then you would know that my family and present-day friends lived through the horror of East German communism, and a little petal like you know would not want to know what extreme socialism is really like to live under. 6 year wait for a fridge -fancy that? Dragged to Stasi HQ because your TV aerial was facing west, showing you were watching west german TV? Give the local bakers a weeks notice, if you actually wanted bread rolls. No, my friend, YOU are the one unaware of what socialism means.

You've proved my point quite perfectly. Equating socialism to communism. Meaning you don't know what you're talking about.

Keep going with the insults though. Every discussion that you've had with me ends with you getting angry and insulting because you've lost the argument. Wouldn't want to change a winning formula!

And you are certainly not my friend. After the ignorant rubbish you posted relating directly to me (proven to be totally wrong, you didn't reply about that though) you are not someone I would ever want as a friend thanks.

Thanks goodness for that. You obviously don't know that communism is pure socialism, and so it doesn't prove what you said in the slightest. I have prided myself on only ever insulting one person on NSC, and then immediately regretted it, and it wasn't you. you are confusing a riposte with an insult, possibly because you don't like anyone to disagree with you. But I don't think it is an insult to comment on your customary arrogance to assume somehow that you have won an argument -in your own mind, perhaps?

A riposte! You wouldn't know one of it slapped you round the face with a rotting octopus. There are millions of people with socialist views who abhor the idea of communism. It's not the same thing.

I note you still ignore the fact that your snide comments about me were proved to be completely wrong. You couldn't reply about that as you were embarrassed, humiliated perhaps, and yet you still attempt insults ("didn't go to grammar school" "petal").

Hopefully you'll stop quoting my posts as I may end up spoiling my manners and lowering myself to your level. I'd prefer you to just **** off darling.

I think not only are they not meeting the demand for top end hospitality, they are also missing out entirely on the mid-priced market. I wonder if they will try to address this too? Perhaps move the shop to where the hotel was supposed to go, and put in a new bar/restaurant in the North? Tony Bloom alluded to having alternative plans for the hotel site a while back so maybe we'll see a planning application for something there before the season is out? All speculation on my part, but I could envisage something like that happening. As ever the challenge they face is coming up with facilities that will be used on non-matchdays too.

Shame petal -you obviously don't see the contradiction, and then the irony of talking about lowering yourself to others' standards after your post about politicians the other day. how you can be so hypocritical, is beyond me. And why should I not quote your posts - isn't this what a forum is all about. But it has just dawned on me - you are like a spoilt brat, who simply either has to be "right" "win an argument' or want others to go away if your view isn't corroborated.

Yes, thanks for that. The club has evolved so much these last few years, so I too wonder what the future holds in this regard. If the club can generate more cash, and the punters are happy to pay, then great. Whilst I don't disagree with you at all, I just hope that the drive for corporate profit does not mean that the club loses sight of the average fan. That would be a shame.

No. No it’s isn’t.

Yes, Ok -communism is an extreme form of socialism but a form nonetheless - would that wording suit you? A question you may well be able to answer -what sort of socialism is advocated by die linke Partei - is it just very left of the SPD, or are they hankering after the 'good old days" of the DDR?

Nope. You're just boring and always wrong.

I still disagree. There are similarities with some forms of socialism and communism but equally there are key differences. If you Google this topic there’s plenty to read about.
