And there was the ticket system collapse. Good luck.

Yep. People who had travelled miles were queuing outside the Tate Modern and missed out too. Didn't feel too bad when i saw they had travelled all that way for nothing. Ticketmaster indicating £45 per ticket 'subject to change' - will buy an extra lottery ticket if i get one!

Managed to get standing tickets for next years Iron Maiden gig at the o2 in the priotiy pre-sale. Original date only had nosebleed seats and I'm not great with heights. Checked online earlier and they had added a second date so very pleased.

On the subject of touts, the gig is ticketless entry. The person who bought the tickets has to bring along the credit card used to order and photo ID. All people in the party (if you order more than one ticket) have to enter the gig together. Will be interesting to see how well this works against the touts and the secondary ticket market. Maiden have also said that a few weeks before the gig, if you are unable to attend that they will be arranging their own secondary resale option - all at cost price.

Spiritualized are doing Ladies and Gentlemen at The Barbican with a 15 piece orchestra in November.

Tickets cost £40-60. The gig market has gone MAD! Would love to see this having seen and followed many times over the years, but that is a frankly insane cost, especially considering they play most of the album in a regular tour for a third of the price.

It's pleasing artists are now doing something about this. Over the past year or so, and across Europe as well as the UK, ive noticed a sharp increase in smaller more fan-focused ticketing outlets which artists of all sizes are using. I guess that now gigs have moved from secondary to primary income it makes sense to ensure your fans are not put off by crazy booking and admin fees. Either this or they feel there's more money in it for them. Either way it's good news for us

I thought the same to be fair. Opted for Kraftwerk tixs instead.

Shame, I really, really rate Spiritualized live. One of those bands you'll never really understand their complete brilliance til you see them. Anyway when's the Spacemen 3 reformation happening?

Got two for the second Kraftwerk RAH night. Going to take my lad as a birthday surprise to his first ever gig - mine was The Clash, his Kraftwerk - feels like the start of a good family tradition!

More artists need to do this to stop the scumbag touts.

It's difficult, innit? Particularly when you look at old stubs and see how much they've risen beyond inflation. I find more than £30 difficult to justify no matter how much fun might be had. Gets me when you see supposedly anti-money-grabbing bands charging £50+bf (Massive Attack at Dome.)

There again, I had a pal this morning who thought Stone Roses were worth the £65 ticket price. Would probably have done it if they hadn't decided too late.
