Probably the most disappointing live thing I've seen*.
*musically. Let's not mention BHA.

Well, most years have been pretty good at ATP. Re Sonic Youth: I think their performance polarised opinions - there are a few pages on it in the book Psychic Confusion: The Sonic Youth Story. They played about 4 songs, the first one being an interminable 15 minute one chord song with no vocals, no change in tempo, nothing interesting going on at all. If you were being charitable, you might call it a "drone", but drones usually have texture and atmosphere, and are a bit like staring at a lava lamp - there's interest to be found, if you're looking for it. No interest here. I've seen them six times and this was easily the worst. Possibly I was expecting a usual festival kind of set, but, as a lover of Sonic Youth, I was sorely disappointed. Probably the most disappointing live thing I've seen.
I somehow managed to miss that gig. I've seen them about five times, and always very good. I'm unsure of Thurston's experimental noise however.
Probably didn't help that I was sober. I remember seeing them in London somewhere (Town and Country maybe?), starting with Tom Violence - one of my favourite live music moments ever, together with Mogwai Upstairs at the Garage February 1997 when they played Ithaca. And Slowdive Jerico Tavern February 1991. Hmm, maybe Railway Children Africa Centre 1987. I'll stop now - could be a longish list.....

Factory Floor & Bo Ningen for me this weekend, not sure my ears are going to be able to handle it.....
I did consider both but my ears really won't handle it! Bo Ningen on a Sunday so opted for Factory Floor.
They recovered sufficiently from Deathcrush then?
Now that the fun of The Great Escape is over its back to normal gig going. I have Factory Floor this Friday for starters.
Thee Oh Sees have announced a date for August
I was planning on seeing them on Saturday...
