They we’re great and yep the sax guy was absolute quality. Out of the six he was the only non vocalist during the evening, however his contribution was incredible. We were treated to a Mexican support act which was one guy playing acoustically on his own. He had an amazing voice and called himself Clothing! He has an album out next yea. Then an hour and a bit of Crack Cloud. Lots from the new album and a few older songs. Audience at the front of stage were clearly enjoying themselves and quite lively during the more dance orientated songs. Overall it was very good We especially enjoyed the contribution of the girl on keyboard.
I have seen them twice now, and they were superb both times......I got the tip from some kind poster on here a couple of years ago. I cant remember who but you have my gratitude.

My only criticism is that last time they had a girl on harp dressed as a cloud. I rather like the idea of people dressing as clouds, or any element of the weather for that matter, and was disappointed she was not there.

It’s a pleasure.

Babybird at Dust on Thursday....

He played for 2 hours and got the hump when they put the lights on at 10 for the curfew...I love his stuff, so much more than 'Your Gorgeous'...

Not quite 'Live music' but went to the Alison Moyet signing and talk at Resident yesterday...

TBH I wasn't impressed...Packed to the rafters, an employee came out and told us no selfies, nothing other than the new album signed and hurry along as her time was tight...

The 45 minute 'talk' was a friend asking prepared questions with nothing from the audience...The signing queue with about 150 in front of me never moved in half an hour so I buggered off with the cd unsigned and feeling quite underwhelmed...

Won't bother with these type of events again

I wouldn't judge it on that one event. I've done double figures of them at Resident and never had a bad experience. Usually records, CDs, etc are pre-signed so there's no need to queue. I've never been to a talk, just in-store and even out-store gigs which you get for the price of an album or CD (maybe with a small premium) and get a signed album or CD with it.

Just got back from the Uniform. Cool little wooden venue with lots of outdoor space and a separate bar. Band played their new 45 minute long album in full, shouted Free Palestine, then the lights came on and we went home. Superb.

Sigur Ros just announced 4 dates at the Royal Albert Hall next year, go on presale tomorrow. 41 piece orchestra. Bit concerned about the ticket prices but I can't not go, frankly.

Two gigs down this week, God Speed on Monday, Fat Dog last night. Barry Can’t Swim tomorrow.

Fat Dog were superb and much fun, support was a guy called Ellis D from Brighton who also doubles as Fat Dog drummer. Plays neo-psych and is a great front man….worth checking out.

Bill Ryder Jones was incredible at the Barbican last night performing Iechyd Da from start to finish with a 14 piece band. The album is the best thing I’ve heard in years anyway but seeing it performed properly with all the component parts really showed off the skill of the man and the other players. If he tours this show I really think you should all go. 10/10.

Confidence Man had Chalk bouncing last night. They gave their usual high octane show, great fun and hugely entertaining.

They only played for 45 minutes, though, and finished at 9.45. I was home before 10, Mrs Pogue thought that I must have left early…

Big night for the brighton metal scene as the brilliant Tribe of Ghosts host their debut album launch at the Hope and Ruin tonight. The album is an absolute banger a dystopian post metal masterpiece.

Confidence Man's super fun set was small but perfectly formed. Love 'em to bits! Think their set was more of an album launch event tho. Reckon the 45 minute set would have been due to time constraints, event ran from 7pm to 10pm and they didn't come on stage til 9pm. Could have done without the support act to be honest, sparkly disco Diva Vanity Fairy, who outstayed her welcome, not helped by her having to battle against a murky sound. Still, at twenty quid for a bundle of gig entry plus CD copy of the new album, who's complaining? 😊
