One of the things that worries me about this Government is that they have swallowed the rhetoric, without question, of the Homebuilders Federation and consultants who work for Heathrow about the economic benefits of building homes and a new runway. I'm not arguing against building new homes, although it won't solve the housing crisis unless a huge proportion are genuinely affordable to rent and controls are placed on foreign ownership of homes and second homes/ short term lets. I just can't believe they've swallowed the overblown claims hook, line and sinker.

what are you arguing then? building homes isn't something we need, building infrastructure like airports dont create growth?

I predict Starmer will be known as one of the greatest leaders of this country in modern times. Possibly of all time.

The right-wing media is absolutely firing at him from every angle - and the moronic public are buying into it.

Yet he remains focused on his goals, the really important goals, that the country needs. The economy, house building, illegal immigration and the NHS... and he is delivering, already.

Considering becoming a Labour member again. Never thought I'd say that.
Having been a member of a political party, more than one, I have no interest in becoming a Polidroid. Aligning my free thinking brain with an ideology, or whatever the script is. I think political attachment is the worst thing for the human brain to enslave itself to. If you think Labour are doing well then great, but you can never really know. I define myself more by what I wouldn't do than what I would.

Yes, because no one ever has embellished their CV, I can’t help thinking it’s because she is the First Lady chancellor. I mean what was Jeremy hunt or Kwartengs qualifications??
Every time I see you I am not reminded of the next time Albion play Palace, but that the cricket season with its wonderful distraction from the awfulness of the world is not far away. About six weeks or so, I believe.

It’s because Cricket is the king of all sports.

Looking at the fixtures there is a 3 jumper day v Surrey in March !

We have pencilled about 4 games in so far for the county championship.
The England u19 game
And now looking at the 50 mover fixtures.
We are also getting a box for the T20 ( not proper cricket ) in June.

Going back to politics one of the reasons I always have a soft spot for John Major is when it all got too much he just said “fxxk it” and went to watch the cricket, wouldn’t we all like to do that.

I really liked John Major. Cuddly Tory who loved cricket. We'll gloss over the Surrey bit.

SHOREHAM BY SEA

for balance

Meanwhile, the waiting list for routine hospital treatment in England fell for the fourth consecutive month, with the number of people waiting more than a year for treatment also at its lowest since November 2020.

New figures from NHS England show a record 61,529 people waited more than 12 hours in A&E departments from a decision to admit to actually being admitted in January, up from 54,207 in December.
This surpasses the previous record of 54,573 patients in December 2022.

The number of people waiting at least four hours also rose, although not to a new record, standing at 159,582 in January, up from 154,689 in December.

i’m always a bit suspicious about stats and that goes both ways …….personally when it comes to it ..it’s personal experience …..I was only talking this past week to a relative and someone else …they’d have their pre op stuff nearly six months ago ..(so nearly expired) ….yet still waiting for an appointment for their op………and there are others ..but I’m guessing we all know someone who is waiting and waiting….myself recently I was told I would have an appointment at a TIA clinic within seven days….two weeks later II’ve received a letter saying that they’ll be sending me an appointment in 3/4 months 👀…I’ve rung querying this and left voicemail messages..no reply ….as an aside I queried with the doctor I saw at a&e why I couldn’t just see my doctor …apparently it wasn’t protocol…..🤦‍♂️

I think it depends on the department. I went to my GP last Thursday, was referred for a gastroscopy, received a text today, and going on 26th February
