That depends on what you're doing with it. As a highly portable device, with long battery life, for web browsing and keeping notes etc, the ipad wins. For sitting at a desk, with the freedom to run any software you want, a laptop wins.

Please read up the history, their reason for dropping is a completely different issue as to why Apple wouldn't include it on their portable devices.

Odd "better" hardware argument above too. Whilst there may be huge differences between the operating systems there isn't much difference underneath the shiny plastic shell these days.

Nice piece of kit but it has it's limitations, itunes is crap if i want to put stuff on my ipad i use diskaid [it's free] and much better. But i bought it mainly for when i'm away as an entertainment unit and web browser and with the right set of prograhms on it works well for this purpose.

They dont know any better. I Wanted to try Apple based on all of the hype. My point being that Apple have pulled off one of the biggest con jobs in modern history. My PC tablet is my favourite device of all time but battery life is shite. When stuck in an airport for 7 hours the iPad is a lifesaver though.

if they queue thats there problem...i have never for an apple product..how u find the interface clumsy beats me...personally i find android confusing...so each to there own..good we have a choice...but i fail to see how its a con job...unless people buy just to look at it...and yes some people go on about what it looks like...as they do with most electronic gadgets these days...after a while that appeal fades..and its what is can do that matters...for me its an invaluable tool for work and leisure....but hey just an opinion

I don't know whether you realise it or not, but you're making yourself look a bit daft through stating all this stuff having bought an iPad!? If Android is much better for you, why on earth didn't you buy one? If you have no other Apple devices, did you really think an iPad was a sensible buy? I suspect that an iPad without any other Apple products, without taking advantage of iCloud, without the connectivity through software such as iPhoto or Pages etc. is probably not far off what you describe. But that is only for you personally. It's my opinion, but you're being blatantly ignorant about the whole thing from your initial purchase through to what your posting on here.

The only people Apple cons are the likes of yourself who buy the products without really knowing what they are doing.

Skyfire has an iPad app as well as an iPhone one. Photon is the app that definitely works with Seagulls Player commentary. Not heard of anyone running it successfully through Skyfire.

i use photon and it works ok - but not really that well. i find the picture is a bit stuttery and the text doesn't sit right on the page. perfect for commentary - which is what i will be using it for at 3pm today to cheer on watford

HTML5 & the fact that Apple wouldn't support it - They are flogging a dead horse keeping it going for now for desktops, and only the very shortsighted can't foresee that Ipad or Ipad sized equipment and the cloud is going to destroy desktop sized pc's save for monitors you will plug into.

On the hardware side you need to look at where the stuff is produced and reliability to see the difference but I agree the differences are closing fast and that's another death knell for the desktop and the reason ipad sized equipment will succeed. Phone sized equipment would win hands down because its easier to carry around but when you get to the office and home you want something a bit bigger perhaps even plugging into a large monitor (note I said monitor not TV as that will die too) for games, multiple app windows etc.

But one of the reasons Ipad is better and will win is that they seem to have made headway into the retail market and by being so self obsessed and self strategically thought out they have made retailers want to use the ipad for display and shop purposes and there is already an array of holders, stands, cases and clip ins that fit the ipad. In fact the diversity of the android stuff is going to make incorporating it into businesses harder.

Apple isnt brainwashing people - its just better at marketing and strategically thinking than the others that mainly fight against themselves and only combine or work together to try to stop Apple by slagging them off!

Youre not really paying attention to what I have said so are looking like a typical in denial Apple fan boy, and a bit daft yourself. I bought it because my Wife was nagging for one, she also has an iPhone incedently, which I also think is ridicously overated but thats another topic entirely. She will use it, thats fine, so will the kids. That means I can use the laptop uninterupted, about hte only benefit. The money isnt that important, I just think it is a might RIP OFF for what you get.

I am passing judgement as somebody who's had a good amount of time using it, who has also used similar products, and explaining how UNDERWHELMING the iPad is for the money considering how everybody raves about the things, they are basicly pretty poor at what they are supposed to do (internet), no where near worth the money, and integrate APPALINGLY with anything outside of Apple world. I fully understand what the thing is supposed to do, I didnt realise quite how poor it is at doing it though. You only ever find this out with a good amount of usage. The thing I find most astounding, how so many people have been completely duped into thinking how amazing it is, I guess you are in this catagory.

Not really, I agreed with some of your criticism if you read the post properly. What I find amazing is that just because you don't think it's that great, in your arrogance, you believe everyone else must have been duped, like you've explored every single aspect of the product and its potential, and therefore everyone else is wrong. So easy to resort to suggesting everyone who has one and likes it is a fan-boy, when actually there is very little substance to your criticism, which mainly appears to be that you don't like using Safari.

I feel completely mugged off. After listening to everyone bang on about how good the iPad is I finally took the plunge. One month later I now feel totally ripped off. £400 for a substandard Internet tool and storage device. Wow a lot of people are living in Emperors clothes land with this piece of kit. Went to watch seagulls player, oh can't do that,went to download some torrents, oh can't do that, just went to watch the golf on the BBC site, ARGGHhh, can't f***ing do that either. But it's ok there are a million apps you can buy that do shit that you never knew you'd ever want and I've already got them on my smartphone. Oh and it turns on quickly. Apple, I'm sorry, I tried, but my suspicions are correct, you have conned the masses. Why on earth would anyone want one of these over a decent laptop?
