But no-one prepares you for iTunes.

I did a lot of research and it looked great. I spoke to those who had Apple products, all very happy so plumped for IPad2. Hoping these are just teething problems and I will become a convert but maybe I'm too ingrained in MSwindows and the like.

I don't see how anyone could have any problems using iTunes to sync media to an iDevice, but I do write as someone entirely within an Apple ecosystem. Is the Windows version shite?

I'm currently on a HTC desire HD android phone which I've had for nearly 18 months and it still does everything I need and want in a phone with the 8 megapixel camera that the iPhone still doesn't have.......

Yes, yes it does. The iPhone 4s introduced an 8mp camera. However megapixels are only part of the story when it comes to photos. Beyond the lens, the optics and accompanying software in an iPhone 4s will knock you Desire HD for six, and then some, when it comes to the quality of snaps that are possible.

Sounds like you should have done so every basic research first. 1) it's not a laptop replacement. 2) no one claimed you could use torrents, file system doesn't work like that for a start. 3) well known flash is not supported.

Unbelievable

I knew it wasn't a laptop replacement. I knew it didn't do flash. I didn't realise quite how many sites used flash though. I did think,it would bring a bit more to the party though than being an oversized smartphone without being able to make calls. I'm not even tha fussed about the cash, I can afford it.

My main point is that I can't believe how many people have been conned into thinking what a good piece of kit it is for the cash. It really is an overpriced con. Lots of people said to me that once I tried Apple I'd be hooked. I feel sorry for those people, totally brainwashed by the marketing and aesthetic.

I haven't yet been won over by apple products apart from my iPod, only a 160g classic but with the connection to my car stereo its awesome, no more need for cd wallets or ripping CDs to listen to in the car, I'm currently on a HTC desire HD android phone which I've had for nearly 18 months and it still does everything I need and want in a phone with the 8 megapixel camera that the iPhone still doesn't have.......

When Im due a new contract I may consider moving to an iPhone just because most of my friends have one and its easier to sync between each other but that's a long way off yet.

My iPhone has a 8mp camera.

Any thoughts of moving from my HTC desire to an iPhone have now been well and truly consigned to the dustbin. HTC One x all the way for me now.

The benefit of the windows alternative, and Winamp and others, is that you can drag and drop more easily, you can take off and put on music and videos as simply as with a USB memory key, and all without registering, enabling, syncing, disk mode, etc. that said, iTunes is still the best, so long as you can work within its restrictions. oh, and of course you can't use Winamp/media player etc with iThings.

Flash Player is a very well known issue with Apple. Not sure what you are referring to with iTunes though.

A simple google search on iPad pro's and cons would of been enough surely.

As for Windows. f*** me it's hideous. Amazing some ppl are anti Apple but windows appears to be the computer version of the school slow kid

Agree the iPad is a hell of a lot faster and I enjoy using it but I've found iTunes awkward. As I said earlier, hopefully teething problems and as for being anti apple, I'm just yet to be wowed and just get the impression Apple does no more than Android or blackberry devices but charges a lot more. In a couple of months I might feel differently.

As an aside, anyone know how to limit the space a DVD takes on an iPad? Just tried with a film that might be 6gb! With my paltry 16gb, films to entertain my child on a long journey will be limited :)

Use a DVD ripper with an iPad setting, then it automatically rips it to an appropriate setting. Roxio does this, as do others.

It's a fantastic piece of kit if you use it to what it's designed to be best at.
I'm not taking the piss, I'm just stoopid.

What is it designed to be best at?

But having flash on a phone is a waste of time now - Adobe are ending it and all phones will lose it.

They are dropping it because its unreliable and its performance is crap

Apple and Jobs knew that so didn't put it on the Ipad because of that.

If thats true It show how far apple is ahead of the windows world

With Handbrake, you can choose a file size to aim for when you convert a DVD to mp4 format.

What I find most amusing is the usual reaction of Apple fans to take criticism of the products personally.

The marketing has obviously worked hasn't it ? It's not about the cheaply assembled components, IT'S ABOUT YOU.

Love 'em to bring out a toaster.

A different way of thinking I think Bozza. I'm coming from entirely within a Windows ecosystem and crossing the border so to speak. Taking time to get used to a different way of thinking.

I find it's a much more pleasurable experience for general web browsing, using NSC on Tapatalk, watching movies, viewing photos. I can do all of that on my laptop but I am pulled to using my iPad for it. All the finger gestures like pinching seem very intuitive and natural.
