To unite the country, seems a pretty straight forward thing to do, would you rather we have in fighting?

Great attitude.

Plenty, kids come in every day saying some bloke with sandals on tried saying the government has this or that wrong. Wrong uns and should not be allowed to teach kids. Fingers crossed you do not wear sandals and teach.

Or is it just the bitter ones who shout within their bubble at anything that the government do?

Proof of this, please?

That's fine abuse is what you guys live on and even worse those that encourage abuse with thumbs up.

Any other points on why you would not want to support the country in which you live in?

Hmmm. I think sandals are banned in schools for Health and Safety reasons (for men anyway). Are you sure you aren’t, well, making up bits of your post ?

Well given that the only person on here who seems to be defending it is you and the list of posters on this thread comes from across the political spectrum I'll let you draw your own judgement.

Well I have marked my line in the sand and I will stand up for our country in times of trouble, perhaps some should hop over the border and join up with our Euro mates oh and...................

Some people think they're really clever
To smash your head against the wall
Then they say "you got it my way"
They really think they know it all
It doesn't make it alright
It doesn't make it alright
It's the worst excuse in the world
And it, it doesn't make it alright

Feck you caught me out on the sandals bit Nev, they used to wear sandals when I was at school. All the rest applies though.

Ignoring issues that have already been raised (as others have stated it better than I could!) 2 other things sprung to mind:

1. With Delta variant increasing in young people we are doing everything in schools to try and reduce transmission. Choirs and musical theatres currently have strict restrictions as singing spreads germs further etc. DofE encouraging classrooms full of kids to be singing is VERY irresponsible.

2. At times at schools I work in we have had days when the normal timetable has been dissolved and there have been "theme" days. These take weeks if not months of planning. Yet the DofE think that with 3 days notice teachers can plan/resource a day like this?? Clueless. I already know exactly what I will be teaching on Friday - it won't be this!

From children singing a song to teachers wearing sandals, superb.
The top man, Jesus, was a prolific wearer of sandals so i would advise caution if you are thinking of going to heaven in the future.

Im all for a bit of flag waving mate but when Patriotism has to be preached to kids of an inpressionable age it becomes Nationalistic. It just doesn't sit right with me. Admirable sentiments maybe but wrongly communicated in my opinion.

Kids have always been preached to at school, I bet you had a nativity play at school?

Do you not think that this country needs to pull together more than ever now? Was the flag-waving after the wars wrong then, the kids were impressionable during those times.

Are you happy for Krankie Sturgeon to split the union with her constant preaching?

Come on mate, remember your welsh roots, they will be off soon too.

Ooh, baby
Let's, let's stay together
Loving you whether, whether
Times are good or bad
Happy or sad
Ooh, ooh, yeah
Whether times are good or bad
Happy or sad

Why does all this flag-waving stuff (One Britain One Nation, GB News etc...) so pointedly exclude Northern Ireland?

Not even famous words from The Reverend Al Green can change my opinion on this i am afraid. I would like to see Scotland stay in the Union although if the Scots ever voted again and voted out it is a decision that would have to be respected. As for comparing flag waving after the war well thats a completely a very tenuous link. Patriotism should be encouraged but not preached, you yourself object to so called political leanings being preached to your children so how would you feel if you was not as patriotic and your kids came home telling you they had to sing a song which to some would seem jingoistic and not all inclusive.?

I all for getting behind the country but trying to unify the population with a ditty the kids can sing at school seems a little......well childish and slightly confrontational to be honest.

Saying our country is great is hardly preaching though.

The issue really lies with you and others feeling it's a political movement. It is a self-preservation movement and a togetherness movement, nothing else.

Subliminal preaching goes on all the time, take social media and all those twatter posters, Facebook friends preached during Brexit and hate speech towards Boris and Matt Hancock is constant.

It's all preaching should all preaching stop because kids see this stuff?

At some stage Mouldy, You may have to accept that you are trying to defend the indefensible.

It's a rich irony that in the ( alleged) land of freedom, tolerance and diversity kids are being ordered to be patriotic!

Once again this highlights how utterly divorced from reality the government really is... Clap for our wonderful NHS, but don't give them a genuine pay rise, fly the British flag more often and kick up a stink when a few students remove a picture of the Queen from a private wall but porogue parliament and lie to the queen when you need to avoid scrutiny..

Push children in to singing a patriotic song six months after voting against extending Free School Meals for children in poverty and presiding over continuing shortfalls in funding their education....

Satire is dead...

No mate the issue does not lie with me & i dont see it as a political movement, why should i? I would still have the same opinion about this if it was a left wing idea, it may be for all i know. Just because someone disagrees with the sentiment & the way it is administered doesnt mean they are anti government, anti Britain anti Brexit bla bla bla. I cannot see your way of thinking about sunliminal preaching being just anti Brexit ect, anti
Boris, i think you are a little confused if the power of subliminal preaching works for your agenda it must work in the downfall for example Corbyn, Labour ect.
Sorry but its all a little " well if you dont get behind it you are a not supporting the country" agenda for me & i think people from all walks of life will have similar views.I just think it is a bad

It must be quite a happy life blindly defending and agreeing with whatever the government says and does. Does away with all that thinking for yourself and taking responsibility faff.

Being dead isn’t hard on the dead person. They don’t know that they’re dead. It’s hard on all the people around them. It’s the same with being stupid.
