You keep on bringing up Brexit/the referendum on just about every political thread yet always insist you don't want to discuss it or any aspect of the outcome and issues raised by it on the thread specifically for that purpose ???

I have no interest in discussing it because it has been decided. I have accepted the result and have moved on. Unfortunately, many people are still bitter and express that feeling through other subjects, including one about a song being sung by kids at school. Just browse through the anti Boris remarks on this thread. It is word for word what has been flung at him ever since the Referendum result. These posters then have the cheek to call others divisive !

What about having accepted Brexit and thinking this song is bullshit?

I'm doing that.

But you keep concluding that anyone who is critical in any way of Johnson's Government is only critical because of a vote 5 years ago that has been accepted and implemented. You don't think that Johnson may have done other things in the last 5 years that people disagree with ? It appears to me that there are certainly some who keep harking back to it, can't let it go and move on ???

I'll leave this here as I don't want to derail the thread but invite you again to go the Brexit thread to discuss how to move on with the NI protocol, implementation of import controls, what to do about services, fisheries, foodstuffs etc etc.

It's a genuine invitation, because I believe you are a poster who would have positive contributions and the sooner we find solutions to these issues the quicker we can move on and become more united. Surely that is in everyone's interest

My assessment is not based on criticism but rather the level of vitriol and hyperbole. The only comparative in recent times is the reaction to Tony Blair which was also ludicrously OTT but explained by the wars he waged and consequent loss of life. I’m sure he would have copped it for this daft song as well.

Brexit has been and gone. Trying to use that as the reason boris is criticised just doesn’t add up. COVID anyone?

Just so sad that what was possibly originally intended as a positive, fun and feel good message for kids about their home has been hijacked by two sides who see politics in every shred of life.

Just as sad, but oh so predictably funny, is the pretty much one sided echo chamber that most of the NSC political types choose to exist in, is frothing at the mouth like a rabid dog.

There’s accepting we’ve Brexited and there’s accepting us turning into North Korea.

And Brexit was a destructive concept, with nothing good from it apart from some getting more powerful.

This is just what politics on social media has become and NSC is essentially a microcosm of the internet, Twitter etc. It's the same dozen or so people posting ever more elaborate anti government conspiracy theories, convinced it's all true because they're blind and deaf to anything outside of their own echo chamber.

This song is essentially a PR cock up for DoE rather than anything to do with official government policy (aka the Tories' evil masterplan), but trying to explain that to closed minds on this thread is ultimately futile!

As John McEnroe once said: “you can not be serious”.

We have THE most divisive Prime Minister in my memory, at least, and I’m 68 next month.

The values of tolerance and so on expressed in the song are in no way exhibited by our government and its actions. Hostile environment? Do me a favour.

The country in my view is more divided than ever, and Johnson is not the man to unite it!

Wow mate! Did you sleep through the 80s and Maggie Thatcher?

Whether you were pro or anti, it takes a real stretch of the imagination not to describe her as the most divisive PM in living memory.

Whatever Boris and his 'friends' have done, they haven't actually started a year-long running battle between whole towns and the Police... yet!

Fun? Sex, drugs and rock'n'roll is fun. Violence. Video games. All fun. Being forced to sing some Mickey Mouse shite about how great the nation is - not fun.
