Very true and there are plenty on here, who regularly pop up and say that the electorate is thick.

Politics has dumbed down more and more over the years. It’s not about policies it’s about media portrayal of the leaders. Tonight is perhaps the end of a political era. Boris and Trump,if that doesn’t show how ****ed the world is.

Irrespective of party politics, the exit poll result would restore my faith in the country. We had a referendum and should abide by the result and this was at the heart of the GE.

Sorry Harry, I admire your work, but on this occasion, it was about Brexit - pure and simple this was a second referendum - Boris knew this, which is why he called the election, and why Labour were so scared of it. Oh I agree completely. It’s just that resident experts keep telling us definitively that previous sterling falls meant leaving was a bad idea. My view has always been that the vagaries of currency markets cannot be interpreted in this way.

Anyway, it seems that Corbyn will now resign. Much against my expectations. That will be GOOD.

I also think Boris may well balls things up quickly. That is the least of my concerns. I'd prefer to see him succeed for all our sakes.

All in all, the people have spoken and I have no qualms. Corbyn deserved to lose. I am much more angry with him and his nobber gang than I am with Boris the liar. Corbyn's gang have let me down.

The story of the last few years for me is this. A number of young left leaning voters have jumped on a "new" message that is actually quite old and stale.

Millions of Tories voters appear oblivious to that fact that Tory politics have changed as much as Labour. Unlike Labour they have the kept the frightening ideological ones backstage.

Do me a favour, "come around back somewhere near to the centre" - you are having a laugh aren't you? This result (if correct) gives them their ideological opportunity to screw the working man, disabled and disadvantaged into the ground - welcome to a future of zero hours contracts, no stability, no future, just fear, fear of losing your job, house, life, etc.

Sorry, this was effectively a second Brexit referendum - Labour have lost massively (it appears) in the North and Midlands, usual Labour hotbeds, purely because those areas were massive Leave areas - I just really can't believe that former Labour supporters have jumped into bed with the Tories, just to leave the EU - how thick are people. Short term gain for long term pain...!

They have apparently jumped ship because they have been ignored by their MPs. Simple as that. If the official Labour line is that makes them thick then do not expect to get voted back into government within a generation. Maybe two.

Don't be so silly. Most folk just want to get on with their lives, and support their families. They don't have an intrinsic interest in politics, but are aware of the intricacies and everyday realities of life -the university of life, if you want. To say they are ashamed is absurd.
