ex-Labour MPs who left the party in response to Corbyn leadership announce they do not support the leadership shocker!

Some stellar names in there though. John Woodcock who was suspended over sexual harassment allegations and then resigned before they could be investigated being a personal highlight. He screams trustworthy.

Postal votes being favourable to the Tories is to be expected as postal votes are often from older voters who are more likely to vote Tory.

Saying that live on the BBC the day before the election is yet another very bad judgement by Laura Kuenssberg. I didn't have much of an opinion on her before the election, but seeing more of her she doesn't seem very good at her job.

Big surprise there - however, Labour will be on the ballot paper and many people will vote for Kyle in order to support Corbyn despite the fact that they know who and what he is.


I could say with 99% certainty that Kyle would not get elected if he ran as an independent - because if he could he would do just that. If Corbyn was even close to becoming PM the Blairite MPs would try and shaft him (and Kyle would be in the middle of the bunch - the big mistake Corbyn made was not insisting on mandatory reselection of LP MPs - that way people would know that the LP candidate they vote for would not be a pale pink Tory.



Elections and electoral processes are one of the subjects that I actually know something about (among other things I have served as an election monitor/observer) and I guarantee you that I fully understand Kyle and the constituency that he is standing in. the fact that you and a small number of others are projecting your prejudice onto the election does not reflect the reality of how electoral processes work.

Of course the real reason why you are voting for Kyle is because he is anti-Corbyn - as demonstrated by your intent to support the Tory if he wasn't standing - and that is also clear from the other stuff you have posted on this thread.

Fascinating insight into how the system works. How do you know that the process would not result in the continued existence of a pale-pink Tory as you put it. Momentum supporters would see to it that that doesn't happen, I assume; in the name of democracy, of course.

I think having an opinion on an MP is fine, we don't necessarily have to like what they stand for, so have no issue with [MENTION=1416]Ernest[/MENTION] or anyone being critical of Kyle. What I object to is derogatory comments such as labelling him a pink Tory

Living where I do, I have no first-hand knowledge of Kyle so my view has been formed almost entirely from what has been written on NSC. There seems to have been two broad streams:

- Kyle is a good man and a very decent hard-working constituency MP. By and large this perspective has come from people on here I previously liked and respect.

- Kyle is a pink Tory, or similar. This viewpoint has come from people whom I previously had little time for.

I can’t imagine the pattern of the different views and those holding them is entirely coincidental.

He's an ideal candidate for this constituency. His margin in 2017 has only ever been achieved by Tories back in the 50s and early 60s. He may even better that tomorrow.

Doesn't matter how left wing you are, support your candidate best suited to their constituency and voters. It's why Blair never tried to have Corbyn deselected despite the number of times he rebelled. He was still a Labour safe seat and the candidate his constituency wanted.

I have ended up being a follower of Peter Kyle on FB and so get his " feeds " regularly despite not living in his constituency. He comes over as a very caring individual who supports a wide range of social causes and issues. He does not come over as a " Party" man in any shape or form and certainly does not do much tubthumping for radical socialism or Marxism. He genuinely cares about social justice and highlights his aims and what he is doing to tackle issues and the reasons why. If I could vote for him I certainly would rather than that ERG ignoramus ( Leadsome For Pm ! ) Loughton.

Which is why I supported him to be candidate when they were canvassing before the cancelled meeting, Hove is now a safe Labour seat why would anyone want to jeopardise this ?

Apparently a fleet of these got sent out today to drive around between noon and 8pm in Uxbridge ,Kensington, Watford, Chingford, Bury South, Bury North, Bolton West, Calderdale, Crewe, Milton Keynes, Vale of Clwyd, Clwyd West, Aberconway, Southampton and Hastings - as pictured below. Lovely stuff.
