Anyone think Lib Dems have a chance in Mid Sussex?

Soames stepping down.

Brexit Party candidate will take extreme tory votes.

Lib Dems did well in EU elections and will take moderate remain tory votes. Mid Sussex voted to remain in 2016.

Lib Dems came relatively close in 2010.

It would require tactical voting, and remain Labour voters to vote Lib Dem. I don't think it's out of the question.

you may be right, the fact is spending has gone up. so the question is (and rarely asked) where is the money spent?

In my experience (education) and Mrs Peteinblack's (NHS):

1) lots of bureaucrats: middle-managers, strategic co-ordinators, Directors of X, Y & Z, Quality Assurance Officers, Corporate Compliance Officers, Public Relations Communicators, Human Resources staff, accountants, etc, but not (enough) front-line staff.

2) Shiny new glass-and-chrome buildings.

I agree. The Brexit party have a really big part to play in this election.

They could ensure that the Conservatives don't get a majority (again) and have even less control over the whole process than they've been able to wield so far. Hopefully, they'll attract plenty of Turkeys to vote for Christmas, allowing a proper party to sweep to victory in their seat.

I really believe it will be a hung parliament, a well-hung one at that. let's face it that will never work.

Just wasting time and money and all enforced on the current government from 3 power-crazed leaders.

We completely agree there - it will be hung with no majority, no clarity on vision for the short or long term future of the country and a lot of money spent with no positive outcome for any side of the Brexit debate or the country as a whole. It'll give the media something to write about for a while though!

All I know about politics is it makes a lot of people angry. There's enough of other crap going on without adding to it by me talking about stuff I just don't get

To be honest - I agree. I am just SO sick of all the endless arguments and all the hate, antagonism and abuse. I'm tempted to vote for anyone, regardless of party, who says that they respect their opponent's point of view and hope they can be friends with them even if they disagree.

It's only going to get worse from here. Think I'll just hibernate until it's all over. See ya.

In my constituency it always used to be about voting Lib Dem as a tactical vote if you were Labour. This time I'll be voting Lib Dem purely on conscience.

Another vote for Boris here. The only person capable of moving us forwards. If he gets a clear majority then we can leave as the people voted for and get on with other stuff whilst continuing to drive this country forward. If Corbyn wins we are all screwed as he will cave in to Brussels and then destroy the economy. If That awful Liberal (not) Democratic Swinson won and cancelled Brexit we will have carnage not seen yet.

Only way to kill Brexit is to do it and then see what happens. Another vote to decide whether we go back in to the EU in 40 years.

5) PFI contracts from some years back beginning to kick in?

I'm not a Lib Dem voter but why do you envisage any carnage? The LDs have been quite clear: a vote for them is a vote to Revoke Article 50, If by some miracle, they won they would have a clear mandate to cancel Brexit. The vast majority of people would accept that; if a handful of nutters objected, they're not going to get anywhere.

I agree attack will be the action, if someone plays it smart and backs off the slagging game they may stand a chance for an outright win.

We have already seen Corbyn, Swinson, and Blackford trying to rip Boris's head off.

Which only pushes more neutrals on the Boris bus.
