My old MP Nicola Blackwood was made a Baroness at age 39 after losing her seat in 2017. The Tories want to reform the Lords, wonder what type of reform they have in mind?

Aren't these just temporary arrangements whilst Johnson prepares for his spring purge?

They do highlight the absurdity of our constitutional arrangements though.

Life peerages are hardly 'temporary arrangements'. Its almost as if the Tories are sticking two fingers up at all of us.... jeez

i wonder if you were concerned in 1997-2005, when smaller votes for Labour lead to large number seats and majority? think of all those Conservatives and Liberals who had no voice.

Its a very fair point.... and I think those of us in favour of electoral reform have always been in favour of it.... but don't you also think its fair to say that the left and centre left parties form a grouping, and the right and centre right parties form a grouping, and one thing that has been true right through those elections that you mention is that the left and centre left percentage of the vote has been over 50%

That poor girl will eventually burn herself out, and could even suffer mental health issues with all the pressure she is putting on herself later on. Why are the responsible adults not telling her to wind it down a bit. The sad bit is her getting so angry, and frightening the hell out of teenagers.

She's getting nowhere near as angry as many old men are at her mere existence, Donald Trump being a prime example.

Erm...i've got nothing against the girl at all. I just pointed out an unfortunate gaffe, which it was. If you want to be involved in global politics you need to choose your words a little more carefully, thats all.

By temporary I was referring to the two individuals' ministerial appointments. If you're saying that our system of democracy is shot to pieces than I completely agree with you. And they are sticking two fingers up at us.
