I just love the way we knock it around mate. I love all that.

Hate the fact we can't score though. The dog would have been on the receiving end on Saturday evening ... if in fact, I owned a dog

My dog would have buried it. If NM had stood still it would have bounced off him and gone in, probably.

This is a good a thread as any to say my view that I think the notion that Brighton fans are in any way harsher, more entitled or less patient than any other fan base is bollocks.

If anything the opposite is closer to the truth

All these posts i've seen recently about how we can't (presumably ever) promote a young player in case the evil Brighton fans ruin them after 3 games is a load of ****. Everyone who has come in has been given a fair crack of the whip. Only those who have shown no effort or no improvement over a long period of time have been barracked in the stadium.

I'm excepting out, that out of 30k people in a stadium, you might get an isolated person who shouts nonsense at a young player, but normally they'll be shouted down or drowned out. You also get the odd idiot on here or twitter etc. Again, that's not representative of our stadium support.

The point i'm making is we don't have fans worse than any other set of fans and young players we promote will be supported

Are they looking at replays though? The ball did sit up a bit for Maups, making it missable and unfortunately he did. Other strikers may also have missed that - it's a shame, but I certainly wouldn't slate him for it. We looked half the attacking force once he was replaced.

To be fair we would have looked half the attacking force on Saturday if Locadia had come on for my dad, and he's been dead since 1989.

The ball did sit up a bit for Maups,

I'm sorry, but "the ball did sit up a bit" is one of the lamest excuses I've ever heard for a professional footballer failing to hit a target that's 18 square metres big from 3 metres away.

Had the goalkeeper saved it, that would be one thing; but to blaze it over the bar is just

Potter on the boos and Sarmiento debut and having to hear the boos. At the press conference at lunchtime

"Nothing's really changed from my perspective."
"It wasn't all our supporters, it was a few of them. Disappointing as it is, you have to accept that. It's the world we live in."
"I've had loads of message from supporters. They've been really appreciative, supportive."
"We had Jeremy Sarmiento off the bench, making his debut (PL). Again, another reason why I was a little bit upset at the end, because I don't think a young player needs to hear that as his first experience."

Well, 5 metres away, but never mind. I think Maups has had enough of a bashing - I've decided to support him.

Which is obviously the right (and far more positive) thing to do - and I will get there myself, but boy he's making it hard.

I'm sure I said on here somewhere pre-season that I believed this would be the season he would fulfill his potential and be our 15+ man - and he started so well. Still a lot of games to go but it's hard not to be exasperated by such glaring misses, especially when his finishes vs. Watford and Palace, for example, were so exquisite.

Well done you. I am also a big fan of Maups.

Works his socks off, great attitude, clever movement and - most importantly - scores his xG in the Premier League which is a very, very hard thing to do.

Unquestionably worthy of respect and enthusiastic support from Albion fans.

Last week:

Not saying Maupay should not have done better because I really think he should have but every week I see "glaring misses" from world class players and the concept commonly referred to as a "sitter" is not so simple in reality.

Of course it was poor but no reason to believe he cant improve on his record from last season though I think you can forget 15+ goals.

Yes, I've pretty much forgotten it already. Although this was a pre-season aspiration I had for him when I assumed:

(a) he'd be on penalty duties, and
(b) referees / VAR were still going to dishing out penalties like gold stars in pre-school

Good to see the club moving to de-escalate this. It was starting to get a bit out of hand

Agree, that's a good move. It was turning into the Blackadder sketch where General Melchett visits the troops and says don't pooh-pooh a pooh-poohing. We were in danger of a boo-boo boo-booing.
