WHy the feck do the Argie buggers think the have ANY claim to those islands? We had them before they even became a country. Carlos, you are a good soccerball scorer goal man, but get your stinking Argie hands of the oil. ITS OURS.

Maybe some people disagree with the notion you can put a flag on something, no matter where it is or who thinks otherwise, and its yours. Strange concept to the British I know...

I thought the Falklands are actually closer to Chile than the Argies anyway. So if anyone has a claim it is them.

However, it is clearly British.:clap2:

I think it is something to do with the potential oil exploration - Thatcher got it right (yet again)

There's a bit of a spat kicking off around oil that will make the Jamie Phillips thread look tame !

If so, lets hope we dont piss it up the wall like she did with the North Sea liquid gold.

You conveniently have left out the part her Government played in the invasion, it was her lot that started off the defence cuts that stopped patrols around The Falklands and gave the Argentinians the opportunity to invade.

Thatcher couldnt wait to go to war. Bit like the Argentinian Junta. In hope of propping up the ratings. She caused the bloody conflict in the first place.

Can we talk about something a bit more up-to-date? The Duran Duran invasion of America perhaps?

The islands first appeared on Spanish maps long before ours. The treaty of utrecht (I think) recognised Spain as landlords (Somewhere around 1715 I think) Its all a bit blurred. To be honest I dont know why people have to basque in the glory of land claims and sovereign superiority. I can think of more relevant things to get uptight about

Distance from England to The Falklands 8000 miles
Distance from Argentina to The Falklands 350 miles

France is closer to us than the Falklands is to Argentina and we don't bloody well claim it.

It's ours, the people on the island consider themselves to be British, end of.

There are certain parts of Britain that would probably consider themselves to be of other nationalities - presumably you are quite happy to let them transfer sovereignty?

Bradford/Luton part of Pakistan?
