Always remember what a normally-trustworthy mate once told me, that he was friends with a member of the security services assigned to provide bodyguard duties to former Tory PM Ted Heath on a trip somewhere. Had to stand guard outside his room and turn a deaf ear to what went on inside...

If this uncovers concrete proof of a high level Tory cover up, will that effect the result of next years General Election?

That and the career of one of the biggest music figures this country has ever produced?

And possibly his freedom?

Making this singularly party political, with no proof that it's just one party and a distinct of knowledge. You want to listen to Radio5 this morning - the backdrop to all this and the atmosphere / culture at that time is summed up by in the 1970's the Paedophile Information Exchange being allowed offices in the Parliament, with their team including Harriet Harman and Patricia Hewitt. Then of course, that non-Tory, Liberal and working class man Cyril Smith MP (dec'd), has been outed as another Saville.

Conclusion - criminal sexual deviance amongst politicians and alleged cover ups, do not follow party political lines. In the passage of time, no doubt we will find out more.

Agreed, to even think about this in Party Political terms appears to be missing the point completely.

However, credit must be given to those politicians that have been prepared to speak out and pursue this. Let's hope it achieves something.

I agree with your sentiment that this should not be a single party issue, but there is an element of revising history here. Hewitt and Harman, were working for the Campaign For Civil Liberties. The PIE were allowed to affiliate to the CCL, they were not the same thing.

Tom Watson asks if Special Branch files will be available to the inquiry.

Theresa May's ultimate answer: "I would expect it to be possible to ensure that all papers are made available".

She would expect it would be possible? Not very convincing.

Jack Straw asks about the inquiry looking into the problems caused by "record keeping in the digital age".

The implication of what he said - the files were lost due to "record keeping".

He knew exactly what he was doing when he asked that question like that.

They'll stake out a couple of goats for the press to munch on, provide a half arsed inquiry and tell us all to get on with our lives. Too many people in high places involved for it to A: Be blown wide open B: Ever stop.

I don't know now mate. That list has pretty much gone viral, the name of the "guest house" too.

I can't see this going back in the bottle now, probably any other scandal would, but not this.

I hope you are right but I'm not convinced. How many times have we seen the elite wriggle out of tight spots? They'll likely just shred the reputations of long dead politicians. They will focus solely on Elm Guest House and Grafton and ignore the thousands of similar, linked set ups across the globe. Plus I doubt very much they will investigate the Royal Family.

One thing is for sure, if and it's a big if, we get full disclosure the way entertainers and politicians operate is going to change forever.

One thing that really bothers me about all this is, where are the alleged victims?

I'm not for one minute suggesting these things didn't happen, it seems more likely than not that they did, and if there aren't any that in itself is more sinister.

Edit:
Actually that doesn't read correctly, the whole thing bothers me.

Yeah, I think this could go to a depth we may never reach - however, like you say, when people realize who are involved it will start to not make any sense. Then people will think a little more, and it will make more sense. A horrific kind of sense. Which will change everything.

You are so correct, and you make a MASSIVE point.

I felt really uncomfortable listening to Ed Miliband earlier when he was saying how it's important to get justice for the victims.

You say these things when you know who the victims are, when you know what happened to them.

But this information coming out now has not come from victims coming forward. It's other evidence and witnesses, it's from people speaking up over decades and being silenced or ignored.

I find it REALLY CREEPY that they are all talking about how these victims need justice, when we don't know what happened to them or who or where they are!

Many were murdered whilst being filmed for snuff movies. Many have committed suicide. Many are too scared to talk. Many are abusing now.

So sad, you're probably right.
