I am looking forward to this.

Who do you think will come out the strongest ?. Watch it with an open mind and vote on part 2 - who did come out the strongest.

Cable will be assured no doubt but he is sniping from the trenches knowing he is never likely to be out in a position of doing the job, Darling will be flustered I think and Osborne will expose any failings and contradictions. Osborne may be s mug young twat I can see why people do not take to him but I feel people may be suprised at how well he does tonight.

Anyway I will try and watch it with an open mind.

Cable on the substance. I'm expecting Osbourne to come across better than many expect, and Darling - I have absolutely no idea.

Debates are all about the expectations game, so Cable can't possibly beat expectations - but both Darling and Osbourne can, so could be interesting

Cable has great respect, Osborne is perceived as the young whippasnapper and Darling I think will be found out tonight. Should be a good one.

Has Osborne's sneer been coached out of him ? Will we be able to look at him and ignore the arse shape at the end end of his nose ?

He is not a natural politician.

I suspect Cable will come out the best - but I think Darling is basically an honest bloke - so it may land him in trouble - or he may come out very well. If Osborne was any good they would not have brought Clarke back - so I am not expecting great things.

Clarke is a great bloke and a real diamond and I would rather him in the position but I feel Osborne is not the fool many people paint him out to be and Labour targetting him as " the weak link " could well be exposed as another lack of judgement.

You advise people to watch with an open mind yet from your following comments it's clear you won't be taking your own advice!!!

Personally I think a lot will depend on which side Cable is perceived to be. He is considered the shrewdest of the three, irrespective of whether he will get his chance in power. If he attacks Osbornes figures, especially following the NI announcement then it could be Osborne is made to look the fool. He will still attack Darling but it depends who gets the fiercest 'lashing'.

The thing about Darling is that he is immersed in the facts and the Budget is still fresh in the mind. It's never easy for the Opposition to come across as anything but negative whingers simply trying to score political points.

What I want is some vision and honesty.

And I have to disagree with you US, I think Cable has a real chance of becoming Chancellor if, as seems increasingly likely, there's a hung Parliament. He would be by far the most popular and respected Chancellor of the 3 - this poll is already reinforcing that notion.

To be honest, no I won't. I am not going to make decisions based on televised debates. The hystrionics that following the US debates debase the issues. What if Obama had come across badly in the debates and lost the elections. Would that mean his healthcare policy has no credibility.

We might as well get second hand car salesmen as the party leaders just so they can try and act honest whilst only telling you what they think they can get away with rather than the full facts.

He didn't ask if it would influence your vote, simply if you would concede if you thought Osborne performed well tonight.

I don't see why that would be an issue to do, i.e. "Yeah Orborne did well tonight, but it has not influenced where my vote is currently going."

I rekon Darling.

Vince cable has been proved right on a few things but he's not the political genius that people make out. Osbourne has no chance because of the way he talks.

It would be interesting to see NSC's opinions after the debate too...

Right, i know my 23year old views will be largely ignored but my worry is this....

i dont know who is telling the truth.

simple, but true.

The only person I can get ANY ounce of justifiable information from is Darling in my view, as he KNOWS the figures. All the time that he is the chancellor, I feel I can only REALLY take his specific valuations and guarantee's with any backing.

again, maybe i'm looking at it too simply, but i'm STRUGGLING

No one made a bit of themselves and no one shone. Infact it was all a bit dull.

A boring 0-0 draw all round I would say.

I hear what you say but the whole point of these debates is to influence the vote and we might as well elect a bunch of actors to run the country!

For once I agree with.

I didn't see it but judging by the Twittersphere comments, Cable was the clear winner.

Even a Conservative supporter I follow put Cable ahead.
