The best GTA?

As it's a current topic I wondered what peoples favourite GTA was.

Mine has got to be San Andreas, so much to do could spend years on that game, however Vice City was the first of its kind and had a great 'feel' to the game in sunny Miami (and great songs on the radio).

Oh, I thought it would be closer. So no-one really enjoyed the realism of GTA IV? 100% so far to San Andreas (someone misvoted, durrr).

San Andreas although I've never managed to complete it, long game TBF and biggest game world out there.

San Andreas. IV was too dark, lost the fun. games have to be fun ultimatly.

The streaming in San Andreas annoyed me, it took too long to catch up sometimes so you had no textures or the lowest mipmap.

And you can swim, cycle, start gang wars, pimp up cars, multiple sub missions, girlfriends, car races, bike races, cycle races.

Vice city for me, as it was incredible at the time and I lost full days on it. The others never kept me engaged in the same way, and might be character and plot associated. For me 4 has been the worst of the lot and never got into it. Seem to remember the controls were different.

San Andreas, mainly for the radio and the farms. GTA 4 was a bit boring I found.

As for GTA V:

Rockstar has already said the game world is their biggest ever, but apparently it’s bigger than Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas combined. To get around there’s a much larger range of vehicles, including BMXs, mountain bikes, road bikes, dirt bikes, ATVs, jet skis, helicopters, and planes.

There’s no mention of darts but you will be able to play tennis, golf, and take park in yoga, triatholons, base jumping, and visit a muscle beach gym. The ocean floor will also be fully accessible, presumably via scuba gear. You’ll also be able to swear at people and depending on where you are and who you do it to the responses will be different.

I know San Andreas was a bigger game with broader scope but for me Vice City was the very pinnacle for the look and feel which has just never been matched by any other game ever. It captured the 80s vibe just so well. The songs on the radio were immense. And all the little nods to classic gangster films of the era were excellent from the curly haired lawyer out of Carlito's Way to the near identical Scarface mansion.

Being able to buy properties, including that awesome nightclub, was the icing on the cake.

As much as I'm looking forward to the new game I don't think there'll ever be another one that captures me just like Vice City did.

Vice City for me, had a real 'goodfellas' feel to the game, great fun to play & loved the soundtrack.

Hated San Andreas. It didn't help that i couldn't stand the main character and couldn't care less what happens to it. Also could never get this queasy feeling out of my head that you we actually playing some teenagers wet dream!!!

San Andreas is the only one i never completed. Couldn't get with the Boyz n the Hood theme, turf wars were annoying.

Vice City definately my favourite. Then a toss up between III and IV, i loved the more gritty vibe of IV personally, the add-ons were brilliant as well. Having Hove Beach instead of NYC's Brighton Beach was genius!

V is looking stunning. Can't wait.
