The A27 is a mess right past Beddingham. I just caught my husband as he left work in Lewes to warn him to get to Ashcombe as the road was closed coming up to Beddingham, and there’s been a crash on the A26 by the Z bend by the tip.
He’s now tootling down the C7.
Hopefully the C7 is clear.

Had an appointment at Nuffield this afternoon in Woodingdean. Got there fine as snow was only just starting. Getting home though after an hour and a half at least of going nowhere fast I've abandoned car on kerb and walked to Downs Hotel. First time ever I've had to do that! Apparently lots of accidents and cars unable to get up slopes has caused gridlock.

At least I'm in the warm, and have food, drink and most importantly toilets available!

Drove from Lewes to Hove, took about 1 hour 40. King George VI avenue was too dangerous so Dyke Road completely snarled up.

Parents been going about 2 hours from Lewes and aren’t even past Hollingbury yet. Abandoned cars on the A27 as well .

I work along one of the worst roads in the world for bad weather, it floods both ends, full of potholes, animals jumping out at you from bushes and slippery as hell in the snow. Crashed my car there January 8th last year because of snow, don't fancy doing it again this year. A rear wheel drive sports car is no fun in the snow.

AA for over an hour saying the Falmer Road is completely closed, due to earlier crashes on the snow.

You make a great point. Me in my smelly 4 x 4 no problem. All these EV drivers need global warming so we don't get snow.
No they don’t.

My EV has 4 wheel drive and I suspect many others do as they often have a motor at the back and at the front. But even with a 2 wheel drive car, winter tyres is what you need more than anything else, not a smelly 4x4.

That's harsh - it is pretty awful on the roads considering gritters caught completely by surprise

The Argus comments will include legends at driving, bemoaning rubbish drivers. And that old chestnut of “the Austrians and Finns never have problems with snow”. Where there’s a colossal annual spend on clearing the guaranteed snow, winter tyres are mandatory and they do have snowmageddon days on the roads.

So I understand. Initially I tried going towards Brighton but that was blocked as cars couldn't get up the slope out. Considering going back to car but pavements very slippy which I have problem with (bad knees) so I may be here for some time...

Nearly 3 hours after leaving the top of County Oak Avenue, they still haven't been able to get into Coldean. Diversions everywhere & traffic at a standstill everywhere. Good job they stopped for fuel!! Always keep a really warm coat in your car, just buy a 2nd hand one from ebay and shove it in the boot.

If you can bear to take your socks off, putting them over your shoes makes it easier to walk in snow.
