Looking like it'll be rain today IMO. After all the angst on Netweather about whether (*ahem) or not the system would track far enough north (it will), they overlooked temps. Frost here in Uckfield this morning, but not the sort of deep-cold frost that would have been a good sign of snow arriving in the afternoon. Instead it's already showing signs of clearing, which isn't a good sign for snow later - suspect temps will rise high enough that best case will be some sleet.

Crowborough, on the other hand, might be in for a dusting.

So close, but not quite.

If that hits ground on hills surely there is a reasonable chance of a bit of snow from that?
It will be marginal at best, and small differences like wind direction, intensity of precipiation and altitude might be the difference.

We won't know until it comes onshore.

My phone says it will probably be rain on the coast during the day but it may turn to snow when it gets towards evening
Yes, my automated forecast is now showing snow here (Durrington) from 6pm to 2am, but that would be after several hours of rain, so not ideal.

the most recent Met Office advice / warning suggests the snow risk (as is always true) is greater away from the coastal plain, so North of the Downs (and on them) has a better chance.

What concerns me is the fragmented nature of any precipitation in the forecasts, meaning for most the intensity could be low and patchy, lessening the chance of snow over rain.

5C 41F in Lancing so any snow is highly unlikely
