Net weather or Met check for me. Net weather certainly seems to be fairly accurate on short term forecasts.

reports for snow in the south for the weekend ? Papa - where are you?

There's still a lot of scatter at the moment. It's not impossible, but I'd think were probably not going to get snow from this, although a couple of the models get close (ECM and GEM) this morning.

One to watch over the next 24 hours i feel

I'm in teesside on business this week, looks like we might have snow tonight. Got to cross the Pennines to clitheroe tomorrow night, which could be interesting.

Yep :(

The latest seems to suggest Midlands north will see possibly disruptive snow over the next 4-5 days, whereas down here it will be too mild, and wet. We might see some wintry showers later on, IF the low pulls away onto the continent in the right way.

Towards Easter looks unsettled, mild and wet :(

Last year, warm and dry up to mid april then shit onwards

Let's hope for a reverse this year because im absolutely pig sick of dull, cold wet weather we've been getting. Not often the weather gets me down but bloody hell, this is depressing

Yes, we had our dries weather in March last year, after which it was Autumn all the way. Let's hope that a wet spring heralds our first proper summer for 5 years

Why did I have to be in Edinburgh this week of all weeks?! Bitterly cold packing some hefty snow showers for the last 24 hours. Go away now please!!

what do you reckon on the summer, chances of a good one are above 50% or below based upon current information?

I have no insight on the summer, too far off really. I'm hoping that we buck the recent trend for shite summers

Heads up.

There's good model agreement on a south easterly developing into a bitter Easterly next week. All major models; GFS, ECM, UKMO & GEM show variations on this idea. Definitely worth watching from the back end of the weekend.

Thank you Papa. that's my conversations sorted for tomorrow. Keeping it vague as is the NSC way though

I think something along the lines of 'I think Winter may be in for one last harrah before we can put the scarves and gloves away. I'll keep you updated and let you know as the models do their stuff' Also stuff about being mildly concerned about program output results, council panic regarding grit supplies, and, too early to know anything for sure . . .

That's the way to do it.

Not quite out of the blue, but a little surprisingly, the latest GFS cranks up the snow risk down here on Saturday. The models have been progressively showing the fronts and milder air being pushed further South so whereas the snow was forecast for Northern England and Scotland, it's much further South.

This is from this mornings GFS, for Saturday

The ensemble shows that it's not without support, with 40-50% chances.

Meteociel - Diagrammes GEFS

All to play for.
