Utterly infuriating, I agree with everyone on this thread. Think bazball needs to go in the bin. It clearly doesn't work against the top sides like Aus. But alas, I have been quick to judge and criticise, but so far, it needs taming at the very least. We keep getting in control and then throwing it away and crucial moments, series is Aus to lose now. I hate losing to them too.

Sorry, but we were utter shite before Stokes and McCullum turned up, the transformation of the last year of an abject Test team has been remarkable.

It has unravelled here but there is no way you bin the process because of this series, this is something to learn from, and develop the approach, not bin it.

Do you not recall the previous 4 years or so of being second best in pretty much every series including losing to the Windies!

Through Bazball we have managed to sort one major problem that has dogged us since Strauss / Cook retired and that is piss-poor output from the Top 3. For me, that was the very essence of it - Bairstow and Stokes have always crashed the ball around pre-Bazball.

The issue is that behind that only Joe Root is capable of playing a measured innings against the best. The middle order need to bat more sensibly.

You are right but in this match especially we have lost our heads. Vaughan was being interviewed at lunch & his assessment was that last year against India & New Zealand players like Bairstow hit the accelerator after he'd got his eye in & only took calculated risks, this year it was just attack at all costs.

This match they have been like lemmings, Crawley learnt nothing from Root's dismissal in the first test, Duckett learnt nothing from Root's "out" & the rest of them just kept doing the same thing. Crawley, Duckett & Pope gave England a terrific start, thereafter, apart from Brook for a while, we played like school boys.

Just lost another one now. They can actually all bat a bit. Think the NRR was in the back of their minds so some silly shots were being played, but just need to relax and take the singles. Logan van Beek the hero of the super over is in now.

With only a few days between tests, I don't think he'll even consider declaring until just before tea tomorrow.
Get as many overs into our bowlers' legs as possible.
It's not like he needs to worry about us blocking out a day, our technique and mindset isn't up to it even if we tried.
