Completely wrong, the opposite is more likely with baseball in freefall, gridirion in kids 20% down re head injuries & rugby 80% up in U.S., basketball just monotonous, the far east & Middle East expanding football (Qatar) like the previous 3 lots of 50 years in the next 50 Football will be BIGGER and most inferior stuff smaller

The US apparently has more registered Rugby players than England, Ireland and Wales........

To be fair, over the years Selhurst Park has hosted international football matches, Olympic matches, boxing and crap music concerts.

Along with a number of relegation battles, admittedly.

'over the years'? Over WHICH years, exactly?

Any of these happen, in say, the last 50?

And just 1,485,910 registered Association Football players in England.

Yeah, but you know (as someone who plays, every week) that there are way, way more than that playing football regularly. You don't see many tackle-abouts springing up in parks. Most people who play rugby are registered, I would imagine.

True. Only a quarter of a million people play rugby once a month against 2.7m playing football.

However, you'll love these stats Pogue Mahone - check out which sports are declining in participation and which are on the increase.
