Stormy Daniels coming up on ITV, she must be shitting like a big black Alsatian, what price her being ‘found’ dead in a hotel room somewhere, they did it to Marilyn Monroe 60 years ago 🤷‍♂️

sure, if the Senate and House enable him to change the constitution and supreme justices chose to ignore law. then it's on them really. the whole US system is setup to prevent a President from having much direct power, to avoid exactly this sort of scenario.

look his economic policy is chaotic, foreign policy vague. he's likely to face opposition within own team to most because it's so nonsensical and goes against american interests. he didnt change much last time, dont see he'll change much this time either.
One of the things he did change, Roe v Wade, is a pretty big change. Women are dying as a result of that.

Morning everybody, well this isn't what I wanted to wake up to :(

So George Bernard Shaw was right: "The 100% American is 99% idiot".

If I can draw a crumb of comfort, at least it looks like it won't be close so there won't be the post-election violence we saw last time. I appreciate that's pretty thin pickings, but it's all I've got. Maybe it won't be as bad as we feared. Maybe the grown-ups can reign him in.

Heigh ho, "It is what it is" as someone once said.
The only crumb I can add is that this should be the catalyst for Europe (including UK) to be strong together, militarily and economically. Because, if Russia takes Ukraine and then lines up on the borders with Poland or the Baltics... I could see Trump undermining NATO resistance.

’Palace Susanna’ now asking ‘what went wrong’ on ITV?

Speculation they held on to Biden too long and never selected a legitimate candidate via the Primaries.

Probably still filling his socks as we speak.
I didn’t think this morning could get any worse, then this mental image entered my consciousness and…

On CNN when they were drilling down into the counties of each state Harris was doing OK until c 3am but I wonder if these were the early votes / postal votes count skewed things. Clearly people were rocking up on the day and voting Trump, especially independents.

Dystopian, Brexit 2.0 on a global scale.

Imposing a charisma vacuum doesn't help, ignoring and talking down to minority voters certainly didn't help. I doubt this will lead to much democratic introspection they will do what they did last time, blame progressives, the left and Jill Stein.

It'll be easy to find low-hanging excuses based on colour or gender, but the Democrats engineered the situation by hiding Biden away and backing him with misplaced loyalty long after he'd become a political liability. If Harris loses, it'll be as much about not having enough time to put her own stamp on things as her connection with Biden. One can blame ordinary Americans / Trump-voters all one likes - it has, after all, been NSC's default setting for the last 8 years and looks likely to continue - but the Democrats have brought this situation on themselves with the mismanagement of their candidate selection. An absolute shambles.

As for Britain, the special relationship isn't looking all that special now.

A former Director of Public Prosecutions and a convicted felon will make uneasy political bedfellows.

As America lurches right politically and becomes even more insular, if this doesn't encourage Britain to take steps to reverse Brexit at the earliest opportunity, nothing will.

There's safety in numbers.
Surly he won't be 'convicted' for long. He'll have a word with the people with the power to pardon him and he'll be squeaky clean before you can say "Bigly witch hunt".

Hasn’t he sacked all the grown ups in the room, who’ve subsequently publicly stated what a disaster he’d be if re-elected?
Yes, he did back in 2016-20.

Until he picks his Cabinet, we don’t know who will be in the running for top jobs. Tbh I‘m not sure there are even that many grown ups left in the GOP but we can be sure he’ll surround himself with sycophants until they too find him impossible to work for and maybe then they will start to freeze him out as his ‘top picks’ did in his first term.

For me, the real worry is he’ll give an inordinate amount of access and influence to far right people like Elon Musk who will support his autocratic leadership style.
