Perhaps you have forgotten that several months before the 2020 election Trump refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he lost to Biden? - He lay down the groundwork for that challenge with months of conspiracy theories about election fraud leading up to the election - delegitimising the election as fake before it had even taken place and delegitimising any centre/right wing MSM and social media as fake. The ‘witch-hunt’ conspiracy theories he is using to challenge the judiciary in response to his alleged criminal activity is part of that same delegitimising of the constitutional pillars of the state. His pledges of ’draining the swamp’ have proven to be no more than a smokescreen to replace the crocodiles of Washington with those of his own. Your comments on this thread with regard to postal voting is espousing the same conspiracies.

How much will it take to remove Trump from the White House after his next term if he won again, military force? Even if Trump loses this election, if MAGA fans think Trump will concede to Biden without inciting insurrection again, they are naive or at worst, will be knowingly complicit in destroying one of the cornerstones of democracy; the peaceful transfer of power through free elections.

2020 set a very dangerous precedent.

He was thrown a "Have you stopped beating your wife" type question and delt with it correctly, Ive mention the postal vote fraud go and watch 2000 mules film for some insight.

It wasn't an insurrection. Ho do you attempt a revolution with virtually no guns in a gun crazy country?

I think a lot of people are very unhappy with modern society is supposed to be and see Trump as the opposite of that, which is fully reasonable.

So were these people happy with modern society 4 years ago when he was in charge?

They can. If he's found guilty at one of his many trials – and it carries a custodial sentence – he could be running the country from a jail cell if he wins.
I don’t think that’s realistically possible as a felony with potential jail time would be trial by jury, wouldn’t it? If this is the case, there’s no chance a 12-person jury wouldn’t have have 3-4 die-hard Trump fans on it.

Storming a building and threats to kill elected officials (including the vice president) who are carrying out their duties is not an attempted insurrection?!?

Apparently they called the result early, which meant loads didn't vote

No idea how that affected the turn out, but I imagine it caused a dent in the number of voters
"apparently"?? Source?

Nor was my response so have no idea what he meant!
Maybe he's still simmering over my withering review of the Only Fools and Horses franchise recently.

Or more likely, it was just a misunderstanding.

by storming a building while elected officals go through their procedures, stopping those procedures and attempting to steal documents relating to those procedures. you might not like the term "insurrection", you'd prefer attempted coup. whatever wording, fact is Trump encouraged them to interfere with the constitutional process. after phone calls and haressment of state officials to manipulate the results.

I’m genuinely interested too, hence asking. What I fear getting back is a response full of “Crooked Hilary”, “Hunter Biden’s laptop” and other whataboutery.

I’m not interested in perceived wrongdoing of others, if there’s been criminal wrongdoing by others then it’s a matter for the courts. If the authorities have looked at it and said “no case to answer” then I’m disregarding it. If they’re investigating then let the investigation take place and those charges be judged on their merit.

Trump has loaded the top judiciary with his buddies, so he has sympathetic ears to hear his complaints. I want to know how anyone can claim to believe in their country’s democracy, stare at the cold hard facts regarding Trump’s actions, and then still truthfully believe that this is an individual who should hold the office of President.

To me, it feels like the logical gymnastics required would tie me in a knot it would require surgery to undo.
If you are right wing, and a bit of a ****, with no conscience or regard for the truth, you can easily cherry pick a mix of fact and fiction to justify backing Trump.

Imagine being married to an arse like that? Although I suppose people of different genders can make arrangements to suit their requirement, and truthfulness, honesty, fidelity and compassion may not be on the list of requirements.

Quite.

In the thirties even Hitler looked to the Germans like something new and exciting. But....Trump?

America is already in a form of civil war and yes, the storming of the Capitol is a symptom - when there is no longer a peaceful transference of power in a nation state, the conditions for civil war are already becoming evident. If Trump gets elected, it is removing him from power this time round that may prove to be the final trigger.

I don’t know whether you looked at the guardian article I linked to ( posted again below) - ‘Civil war’ doesn’t necessarily mean two opposing armies fighting in the streets - it can simply mean the institutions of the State are no longer respected or upheld - and political differences are resolved by violence rather than debate or electoral mandate - that is already happening to a degree. I would say that could get much worse if Trump did not get elected - ( but if he did, that man will happily lead the world to hell in a basket just to satisfy his vanity and narcissistic needs.)

this came over in this programme ‘Trump - The Return’ I’ve just watched.

Good point, I guess not no.

I expect though that will be due to Trump being prevented from doing what he wanted by the deep state, the swamp, the MSN and the WEF and that he needs another 4 years to get it sorted.
