Perhaps if not a female President, a gay one?
Not a good time to push against the flow in the USA now as far as electing a president is concerned - Trump could absolutely rally and weaponise anti-women or anti-gays. The important thing is to put up a candidate with a chance of beating Trump.

I do feel bad for the guy. I think he's been an effective president and he worked his whole life to get there and I'm sure it hurts to step aside.

But this is bigger than him. It's a hail mary for sure. Now the Democrats have to do something they are famous for not doing. Unite.

I would just like to add to this thread that in 1988/9 as a 21/22 year old, I went out with a 17/18 year old girl from Bisley in Gloucestershire who had since emigrated to USA and apparently married someone who was or is a USA senator. Just to say if she ever becomes First Lady you wont hear the end of it 😎👍.

Well, I guess I won't get to reuse my Biden / Harris yard sign from four years ago.

I met a very well educated lady from Pennsylvania on the train from Berlin to Hamburg last Monday we talked about the Trump shooting and the Biden situation, she admitted with a degree of sadness that in her opinion that America would never elect a woman as President in her lifetime let alone a black one.

I suspect you are unfortunately right. Maybe they looked at Liz Truss and thought FT! Not sure who would run though if it’s not Harris.

Trumpie needs to run as an independent if his nomination fail, its gods command

I think I get what you mean. Many now believe that as Jesus was to Mary Magdelene so Trump is to Stormy Daniel.

As for me, I think 'For he's a jolly good felon, for he's.... etc.'

My first date with my now wife, this was during the Clinton administration and the question of whether Hillary could become president came up. She said she thought America would elect a black man before they elected a woman. I thought she might be mad at the time. But almost thirty years later, I guess she was right.
