I emailed the council this morning with a polite message, and they were quick to responed, fair play to them I guess

To whom it may concern,
A few weeks back, I enquired about hire part of Preston Park for a 6-a-side tournament for charity (for the Robert Eaton Memorial Fund). This tournament took place yesterday (Sunday 9th August)
A price was agreed for two pitches side by side, and I sent a cheque along with the application forms sent to me by Anthony Day
I had not heard anything confirming the pitch booking, so on Friday 30th July I rung yourselves up, and spoke to a lady who told me that everything was fine, the cheque was cashed on the 21st July and it was all sorted, and to enjoy the day.
So at 10.30am yesterday, 10 teams turn up to Preston Park eagerly awaiting the football tournament, only to find out that neither of the two pitches were marked out. This resulted in the tournament almost not going ahead. But because of the numbers that turned up, we improvised with cones and jumpers to mark out the pitches. As it turned out, despite the lack of pitches, everyone enjoyed a day out in the sunshine, raising £415 for the REMF.
I am not sure what happened, but an explanation would be very muchly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Brett Mendoza

Dear Brett,
I am really sorry to hear this and offer my sincere apologies. Anthony Day has now left and I have taken over Sports Bookings from him. I see from emails that he did send you the form etc and that payment was received. However, for an unknown reason to myself, he had not confirmed this on the sheets which go out to the groundsmen.
I am really sorry that this has happened and am happy to offer you a full refund, although this does not make up for the inconvenience I hope to assure you that this will not happen again.
Kind Regards,
Linda Ryan

In MY opinion, Poetry In Motion this year were like the Crocs last year. A young team with some talent, but got pushed off the ball too easily by older and uglier teams.
Uglier?!!!
Older, yes, but uglier?!!!
I really think that you should give the medals to the players, looking at some of them it's probably the only final they had got to, and won. They celebrated like it was the f.a cup final at the end.
And the definately kept their 'eyes on the prize' as they kept saying throughout.
How much was the hire Brett? Get a full refund, and pump it into the fund?
I thought there was a crane missing from the falmer webcam yesterday!!!!
they are getting their medals during the Stockport home game
Cheers for a good day out all. Me, and my 4 Ronaldo wannabes are covered in bruises from you lot kicking us to the floor, but it was still thoroughly enjoyable.
For what its worth, we thought you were the best side we played our group, but by the time you played us you were all knackered. Its a long day with no subs.
By the way, if there's any form of award for goal of the tournament, Sean's goal against Poetry in Motion was simply out of this world
Thanks. Yes, no subs was our biggest hurdle. As of 9am we only had 5 players, so was lucky we could even put a team out. To not get through on goals scored was gutting, but being honest, I don't think we would have survived another 20 minutes anyway.
By the way, if there's any form of award for goal of the tournament, Sean's goal against Poetry in Motion was simply out of this world
i think spencer might be in the running following his semi final run and curling placed effort!
MEDAL not trophy, but why do you care when its going to Scott?
By the way, if there's any form of award for goal of the tournament, Sean's goal against Poetry in Motion was simply out of this world
Was that the no.10 that didnt play for us in the Eastbourne tournie, if so he was a class act, but that wasn't goal of the tournament. I thought the blues team second against you had to be a contender.
