Congratulations to the Croc Croc yellow army. A great mix of goalkeeping, solid defending and tremendous finishing, as well as unexplainable buffoononic show of team spirit and ridiculous accessorising

thanks to Kay and Katie for doing the tables, scores and raffle
thanks to Paula and Tom for sorting the goals

a big :nono: to the council and trophy makers

A triumph in adverse circumstances played pretty much in the right spirits

well done crocs, deserved winners

And a nice £415 going to REMF

What about to me for diverting my run past your pitches and blowing Frutos' team a kiss and shouting 'Hi Fans' It made their day, talk about a special appearance!

Brillant day all round, superbly organised Brett. I would never have thought sitting here at five to twelve, that we'll be champions of the NSC Summer Sixes. I really don't think it has set in yet, but it was a immense day all round and I can't wait for 2010.....

news has filtered through to Mendoza's phone that a box of 1 x trophy and 20 x medals has arrived this morning

what do do?

a) dish out the medals?
b) send them back, get money back (£60) and donate it to REMF?

half time presentation at withdean :jester:

How on EARTH did that team win?

its amazing what difference having a full strength team for the first year ever and actually taking it seriously for once can make

How on EARTH did that team win?

In MY opinion, Poetry In Motion this year were like the Crocs last year. A young team with some talent, but got pushed off the ball too easily by older and uglier teams.

The Crocs this year had got more experienced, some had put on some muscle, some had got a bit fitter. Top that with some real team spirit and you have a WINNING team. Well done lads.

Possibly the biggest LIE ever written on NSC!

Subject: RE: Hire of pitches at Preston Park

To whom it may concern,

A few weeks back, I enquired about hire part of Preston Park for a 6-a-side tournament for charity (for the Robert Eaton Memorial Fund). This tournament took place yesterday (Sunday 9th August)

A price was agreed for two pitches side by side, and I sent a cheque along with the application forms sent to me by Anthony Day

I had not heard anything confirming the pitch booking, so on Friday 30th July I rung yourselves up, and spoke to a lady who told me that everything was fine, the cheque was cashed on the 21st July and it was all sorted, and to enjoy the day.

So at 10.30am yesterday, 10 teams turn up to Preston Park eagerly awaiting the football tournament, only to find out that neither of the two pitches were marked out. This resulted in the tournament almost not going ahead. But because of the numbers that turned up, we improvised with cones and jumpers to mark out the pitches. As it turned out, despite the lack of pitches, everyone enjoyed a day out in the sunshine, raising £415 for the REMF.

I am not sure what happened, but an explanation would be very muchly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Brett Mendoza

Dear Brett,

I am really sorry to hear this and offer my sincere apologies. Anthony Day has now left and I have taken over Sports Bookings from him. I see from emails that he did send you the form etc and that payment was received. However, for an unknown reason to myself, he had not confirmed this on the sheets which go out to the groundsmen.

I am really sorry that this has happened and am happy to offer you a full refund, although this does not make up for the inconvenience I hope to assure you that this will not happen again.

Kind Regards,

Linda Ryan

Possibly the biggest LIE ever written on NSC!

i dont know - last year we would never had made it through five games and then been able to play a further six-a-side in the evening!

having said that, i had to be HELPED out of bed this morning due to chronic stiffness in both calves

Just shows that sometimes speaking nicely to people gets results. And yes - great news - another £109 to add to the total. Good work Brett.

"Very muchly appreciated"

i love that phrase, maybe shouldnt have used it

I was going to write an angry one, but thought better of it

Not £109 just yet, depends on what I do with the trophies, as it was only £76 for the pitches. But yes, i will put that £76 extra when I pay the money in, which so far is

£491
