They do Thatchers Gold at The Swan, so I normally have a 3-4 of those, then down to the stadium, where I normally have a coffee as Strongbow is so rank !
I would simply love a decent draught cider at the Amex !

Surely after the success of Harvey's it would be pushing at an open door if we asked the club for a local cider? I'm no cider expert but Battle Cider and Wobblegate taste okay to me. Good enough for a trial barrel or two in the North or WSU, certainly.

WSU, just below the seagull.
Picked up one of these bad boys in Tesco a week or so ago, for only £ 5.

I would say Stowford press is the only replacement for Strongbow.....in fact it shouldn't even replace Strongbow as one is a cider and the other is a......erm I dunno what it is.

Thanks for all the input. Reporting back on my 24 hours of cider research.
Bit of a set back last night, the pub ran out of Doom Bar & Tribute in the second half, so I grabbed my chance and went for the cider, unfortunatlely there was only Magners and Kopperburg, went for the latter, when asked what flavour I wanted I said bloody apple flavour but they only had strawberry or pear.Went with pear it was 'orrible, tasted like fruit salad chews.
Undetered I went to Morrisons today and as recommended by you good folk I have purchased Thatchers vintage 2011, Green Goblin, Stowford Press and Aspalls, just tried the vintage, very nice, different to katy, bit more fizz, very strong and really appley, lovely. I will be tasting the others through the week.
To reply to Boys 9d there was lots of Merrydown in bottles and cans.

Should have gone with Strawberry. Rekorderlig would have been even better.

I'm also a cider virgin, a sorry state of affairs at nearly 40. Inspired by this thread, I've a few bottles of Weston Vintage in for the footy tonight.

At 49 i am a cidet and ale virgin, i cannot believe what i have been missing out on all these years. As per my previous threads i am getting through a nice selection this week all delicious. Currently drinking a bottle of Katy. On the ale side of things i have been ordered to try Jail Ale brewed up on Dartmoor its very popular round here.

My vote would be Black Rat. The stronger stuff. Those of you living in the west country will no doubt know of it!! Used to have that and Stowfords on in my pub in Bradford-on-Avon!!
