This stuff which was on sale at Bristol City away lasy season has to be the most vile cider I have ever encountered

I couldn't even bring myself to drink it. And that never happens!

I drink the Strongbow at the Amex purely because I hate beer & I'm not poncing around with miniature bottles of cheap wine.

But I would massively prefer an alternative to Strongbow. My liver might not thank me, but the rest of me would be very happy with Aspall's.

Think we should produce a new cider specially for the Amex - Aspinall's - so strong you can't pronounce any of our players' names after a pint.

Whilst walking along Weston-Super-Mare seafront yesterday i noticed an opportunity to attend a 'Somerset' dinner and dance. Dress up in your best smock, drink copius amounts of cider in a local pub followed by the Wurzels in concert on the Grand Pier, sometime in July. Fantastic.

My Grandad was a scrumpy drinker.

He'd 'go to the club' every evening.
Drink proper rough as a badgers arse scrumpy.
Have his clay demi-john filled, at closing time.
Come home and eat his pre prepared Canadian Cheddar ploughmans.
Whilst supping his last few pints of scrumpy.

He was a right miserable fucker in the mornings.

It still exists, but now made in Hereford I think. Can buy cans in Sainsbury's and Morrisons.

Thanks for that information.

Incidently has anyone tried the apple brandy drink: Calvados which comes from the part of France of that name. I have heard it said however, that in that area there is the highest incidence of throat cancer in France, Coincidence?

The bloke last night was also born in that area. Just popped down my local spar and they had some katy and goblin so will go back now and try that tonight. They also had a plastic flagon of thatchers scrumpy although, even in my nievity i suspect that will taste very different.

It does taste very different, varies in colour from orange to gold depending on beetroot content, and although it is set at 6%.... it varies widely too, and a landlord friend of mine measured one container at 9%.

Westons Vintage for me

I had to ease off of that stuff as I don't think it helped my kidney stone situation from last summer. It is a brilliant cider that gives you a glow like no other.
How about Westons Organic? I would also be happy to see Stowford Press at the Amex. Henneys is another good cider, I wasn't keen on Thatchers Katy or Thatchers anything really.

I do like Old Rosie, but at nearly 8%, it's not one for the Amex. I'd vote for Stowford, as it's not to strong, but lovely to drink.
