The fact that he FELT that he could come out and tell the joke speaks volumes, certain things used to be sacrosanct in this country , and telling jokes about squaddies having their limbs blown off used to be one of them , the ONLY people whose opinion on this is worth anything are the squaddies themselves, and even then I'm sure it will differ, I just wonder how many people on here telling people not to go to jimmy carr gigs if you don't like offensive jokes would be thrusting themselves forward if the furore was about jim davidson telling jokes about st doreen or steven lawrence ?
If you go and see a comedian in a private area, you should prepare yourself for anything. That goes as much for Davidson as anyone else.
You don't really help yourself Bushy by bringing a racial element to the story where there isn't one, but it's very interesting you mention him to be honest, raised thousands for the military and yet refused to perform at a theatre with disabled people in the front row. Were you attacking or defending him at time ?
Difficult isn't it ? Perhaps life isn't quite as black and white as some people would us think.
An ex-soldier on the radio this morning was defending Carr very strongly and I've read a number of quotes from soldiers in the press doing the same.
