What makes me chuckle is they actually think that burning effigies and flags actually offends the west. It might upset some but I'd say for the most part, no one gives a fart.

I think Islam is the fastest growing religion in the UK. Two reasons for this, people who have converted and people who have arrived in this country and obviously had children whilst living in the UK.

It has the lowest retention rate of all religions. After 2(or maybe 5?) years 15% of converts remain muslim, for christianity its nearer 90%, one of the highest.

I very much doubt it is growing fast other than breeding to get into band A for council houses.

I don't understand why the maker of this film would want to incite murder. Bloody idiot, fanatics on both sides are doing my nut in.

They hate Islam and want everyone else to hate Islam as well so they incite followers of Islam to do this sort of thing and suddenly many more people find Islam unacceptable and hate them. There are a few of these people here maybe?

Communist states are void of religion, and I don't feel the people living under communism liked it all too much. Those people who believe everyone should be atheist are just as bad as those people who try and force their religion upon you.

Actually the main reason behind anything that's the fasted growing, is that it's small to start with. It would be impossible for football to become the fastest growing sport in this country, something like skipping is in with a much greater chance.

People in their thousands are protesting in Pakistan against a film, which isn't really a film, made by a lunatic. I don't see those people - who, incidentally, would enjoy freedom of religion in the West - protesting against the persecution of Christians in Pakistan and just about everywhere else in the Muslim world.

Yes it does. Under the hubris of jihad and many other fatwahs and other examples. got to be the dumbest statement ever. The Saudis haven't altered the Koran, Er, you can be put to death for doing that.

Sorry Looney it doesnt. Im a Muslim and I dont see it in the quran. Jihad has many maanings and it certainly doesnt mean going to war or killing people.... that is only one definition and definately not mine

as for fatwas... fatwas are made by men... do you know how many dşifferent sects there are in islam.. almost as many as in christianity and any holy man in any of the sects can publish a fatwa..... one of them... if you may remember sentences Salman Rushdie to death... an act that horrifiedd nearly 3/4 of the world's muslims because it was done by an Iranian shia who has no authority over any non-shias.

So not so simple as you think.

It just goes to prove how primitive these people are. When I see them on TV, it makes me sick. This is the 21st Century for Christ sake, why do these people actually believe any of this religious mumbo jumbo?

It wasn't a little joke film though was it, it was a carefully made attempt at religious incitement that worked as it was designed to do.

Look, whatever the intent of the film, it is just a low-budget film. There primitive people should not be so touchy. Their blatant insults to us and the US are far more outrageous like burning flags etc., do we kick-off? No, and why would we?

Not sure I understand this. Large parts of Pakisatn have little or no eduaction and those areas that do get most of their education from the religious community, also educated in the same way and , especially in the north, predominantly fundamentalist. To compare them with the West is plainly ridiculous. Pakistan, outside the biggest cities is very very similar to Afghanistan.

whereas most muslim families brought up in the West find the whole thing pretty horrific.

Really? Do they deep down? If so, why do so many still have such close ties and even go over there for religious training or to find arranged spouses?

well thats easy. Let me answer with two more questions:

1) Why does everybody celebrate Christams in the Uk... even atheists, muslims, jews etc (not all but many)? Answer because being English it is cultural heritage.

2) Why do many people STILL believe Church of England or catholic schools offer the best education? Answer because traditionally schools with religious background are better.

Thats exactly how those people think. They are wrong ( for one) and you can argue that if they feel like that why are they over here... but that is not the topic here is it?

Question 1 - WTF?

Question 2 - look at the league tables! St John's Meads in Eastbourne is constantly near the top, and the situation is similar with other schools? What are you suggesting?

Try actually looking in somewhere like Melton Road in Leicester to see what most of these people are like. They live in the dark ages. Even many decent girls with western views get forced into arranged marriages and made to wear Islamic clothes.

I worked with one girl who was well educated and "western". Her family sent her over there to marry, she came back as a virtual slave, and was forced to wear a heavy headdress (but not a burka).
