It either means he has gone slag hunting or his best mate is a "friend".

Yes he has plenty but it would be nice to have a clue what he is up to when out.
Yeah, it would be nice but still doesn't mean you have the right to go on his facebook page and look around. Have you tired asking him? If he doesn't tell you then you have no right to know.
I am almost 100% sure your son would be very very pissed off if he knew.

Well unless he's logged in with a password or the site has been left to automatically log in, then it's all there to see isn't it ?

Forgive my ignorance of Facebook security policy, I'm more into anti-social networking myself.

He can secure it if he knew what he was doing

Facebook means you dont have any privacy.

Well that was my point I guess.

I registered on there a while ago to track someone down for my wedding. I started getting all sorts of attention from people I'd gladly forgotten.

As I said anti-social networking is definately the way forward.

Try taking an interest and actually having a conversation with him rather than spying on him.

I deleted all of my family who I had as friends on Facebook, and I'm very glad I did.

It doesn't matter if he secures it or not. Try asking him where he is going and what he is doing.

Well we do that and know what we are told is normally very economical with the truth.

Just want to understand where he hangs out, who with and what they do rather than get a nasty shock.

So far so good as well, however I stand by what I say as a parent and my son being a minor as not 18 I have every right to know.

I agree that he is your son and that whilst he's living under your house he should respect you and his mum. However, remember is that he is 16 years old meaning that, by law, as an adult, he has the basic human right of privacy. This means he no longer has to tell you where he's going and what he's doing if he doesn't want to and you, as his parent, should respect his wishes.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is just imagine how he'd feel if you found out you'd been spying on him...That's a lot of trust to lose and I know as a dad myself I wouldn't want to know what my son gets upto when he's old enough and responsible enough as an adult.

So you ask get told the truth and then still spy on him? Odd.

Thanks but as parents we have the right to decide thanks, whilst we fund his every move

Spot on - while my two sons use the internet connection I pay for and live under my roof rent free then I will continue to use software to control and monitor their web access. It's called protecting your children. Once they are 18 then it's different.

The problem is only getting 50% information from your kids , you have to surmise what the other 50% actually is (which quite ofter means you get the wrong overall picture).

I am dumbfounded as to the stick BH is getting. His cares about what his Son is doing and with whom. Thats a good parents to me. Many parents don't give a stuff where their kids are. Also facebook is an open forum for the whole World to look at so its completely different to looking in his diary.
