Just been in the pub with my Watch at the end of our shift, and we got round to discussing tattoos. We are quite a rare bunch, in that only ONE of us has any tattoos. So the rest of us have all decided to have a tattoo done, which MUST be displayed at our Christmas party, mid December.

So I now have about 4 weeks to decide on a design, where abouts on my body it should be, and get it done.

I favour somewhere not visible on an everyday basis - so top of arm, or shoulderblade is favourite at the moment. Which just leaves the 'design' element.

I'm not that fussed about getting a BHA FC one, as I've never really seen a good one (the seagull always ends up looking like a fat pigeon, for some reason).

Any other good / different designs people can recommend?

I'm trying to imagine what would go through your head to ask the tattooist for "a Tigger wearing a fireman's outfit, please".

 Yeah..........................

err, thanks , but posibly a BIT more involved than I was planning on.

Plus why the f*** has he got an axe in his hands when there is an inferno raging behind him...? What you want there, my friend, is a f****** great big hose reel, pumping out water at 5 bar.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Your sign of the zodiac, date of birth and/or blood group. They are the only things that you can guarantee staying with you for the whole of your life (other than the fat :albion: pigeon).

And not somewhere anyone can see (unless you really want them to).

I would say you should really think about this. To do it for the reasons you said would probably end up being something you regret. I have a number of tattoos, all out of everyday sight and I am lucky that I thought about them for months before each one and still like them. However, I think you should take longer to thinnk about it than the Christmas party.

I got an outline of the club seagull on my shoulder. It's subtle, won't make you look like a pleb, you can pretend it's "nature", but people in the know will "know".

Don't get any wording - that's tacky. And avoid small, coloured-in tattoos - they just look like bruises or birthmarks from more than 3 feet away.

What he said.

Tattoos are for life, not just for impressing your mates at the Xmas party.

No fat pigeon here on mine, but bloody difficult to take a picture of your own tattoo, as I just found out!
