£4million is laughable however: is anyone going to gamble that sort of cash on a League One player?

Presumably his game isn't considered complete just yet, or he'd have made it at Reading.

He is the best player I have seen in a Swindon shirt since Hoddle, his work ethic is second to none, he is one of those players whom the opposition hates and that we love. Its always great having a player on your team the winds up the opposing fans. His finishing this season has been top drawer, and he banged them in last year too after joining us in Jan. Alot of people, me included, won a lot of money on him bagging the divisions top scorer ( £348 for a £10 bet- get in! )

It is inevitable he will go, but you can always dream.

Such a shame we won't be seeing his talents next season, seeing as how you so memorably relegated us into League Two....

...oh
:p

I think Reading are kicking themselves for letting him go so cheap (£250,000) I know a few Reading fans who were furious with madjeski for selling him to us as he was just breaking through to the first team in the premier last year.

yeah yeah yeah :lolol: as ive said before you surprised us all with your recovery and fair play, Im sure you surprised Northampton more though

Anyway, early days here, but do you fancy your chances next season, Cox or no Cox?

Where do Swindon need to strengthen? Defence I'm guessing- every time I've seen Jerel Ifil play he's looked pretty crap for starters. Not sure Phil Smith is the sort of keeper who's going to anchor a successful side either.

We so under achieved this year, it was ridiculous. Malpas was a total joke, he was a proper headless chicken, it was exasperating when finally after years of off field shennaigans we were finally pushing on. Sold 6000 season tickets and board ticking all the right boxes. They did however make 2 mistakes, firstly standing by Malpas for too long and secondly taking too long to appoint a successor.

They have though I feel, hit the jackpot with Wilson. The bloke oozes class and the transformation in the side is remarkable. Defensivley we were awful this year, Ifil is an accident waiting to happen most weeks, but the potential permanent signing of loanee Gordon Greer who should play alongside a young lad called Sean Morrison next year will shut up shop. We will stop leaking goals.

Up front Paynter will bang in his usual 15 or so, but as you suggest its all about Cox. If Wilson can convince him that we are genuinally going to push for promotion next year then he could well stay, personally Im not holding out much hope of him staying.

We have released 13 players, shame it wasnt more, this season we had the biggest squad in the division, unfortunately 25 of them were god awful. Wilson is astute and will bring in a central defender, a left back , a couple of midfielders and if needed a replacement for Cox.

Whatever happens Im looking forward to next season like never before, its been years since we had a division which was primarily made up of teams from the south, plenty of juicy away days me thinks.

Fair enough...my childhood Albion hero too:love:. I should warn you, however, that he does have something of a track record when it comes to falling at the final promotion hurdle in this division :albion2: :yahoo:

Couple of things, 6,000 season tickets? Not quite, you didn't quite manage the "Go to Town" promotion in the end, which was a shame in a way! :p The only other thing, PLEASE tell me you saw through Brezovan and realise that he's no good? I'm not suprised he got released, I would have done too! But you must agree, Jack Smith was hard done by...

Brezovan has been living off his debut performance for 2 seasons, he debuted away at Hartlepool and saved 2 penalties that day, for 2 months after that he was incredible, then he got injured and has been dog shit ever since. I cant stand him in goal for us, you may as well give the oppositon a 2 goal start when him and Ifil are playing.

Jack Smith is a good squad player and yes I imagine he feels a little hard done by, however Swindon have got to get out of the habit of having players that will "do" if we are to progress.

As for Wilson having a track record for getting out of this division. I reckon the bloke is a secret Timelord, he knew all along he would end up managing STFC and did the right thing by letting you lot beat the slave traders.

Yeah, I heard about his debut about every couple of weeks. She kept using it as a justification for his very below average performances! I watched all the Swindon highlights on Virgin this season, the amount of times Brezovan flapped at corners, directly leading to goals is amazing. He made some quality saves, but so often he was so easily beaten... Just shows the value of a good debut, the perception is huge and you can live off it for a couple of years...
The horrifically broken arm was bad timing for him.

To be honest, I don't agree with that. He seems a better player to me than others seem to think, I presume you've seen more of him than I have... But he always looked brilliant to me. Amankwaah is a much better right back, but come on, you kept KANYUKA, over Smith?! Shame about Barry Corr aswell..

I think Wilson has plans for Kanyuka, I reckon he will use him to sit in front of a back 3, he did this away at Millwall and Leicester this season and looked very impressive.

How do you know so much about us? Are you a closet Moonraker :)

The performances at Milwall and Leicester were very impressive by all accounts, Amankwaah played in the midfield with Kanyuka did he not?

I'm not a closet anything mate. I met a Swindon fan in 2005 and we've been good friends ever since, so I know an awful lot about your lot now, I've developed an interest for her sake. I saw the QPR game this season, and Christian Roberts' testimonial.

Don't Mention The War
Are you seriously deluded? why would he want to come here when West Brom go down they look the serious bet to sign him for £1.5 million. The last time I checked we haven't got 1.5 million to spend and we can't compete against Championship clubs in terms of money!
