If you think of all the costs involved in a transfer, and their inital £250,00 outlay for him, say they got £1million, the profit on his sale would be what, £400,000 at best? 40% of that is £160,000... excuse me if my maths is wrong but I think that's right. So they get £240,000 from his sale. Where as 40% of £1,000,000 is £400,000 so they'll get £600,000. Even including the costs, they'll still get more than the £240k, much more.
I may have made glaring mistakes there, but it looks right to me.
Obviously Reading would have a sell on clause, I would imagine we have a sell on clause with Elder aswell. But 40% does seem far too high, and more than unreasonable. Maybe it's just me, but anything over 30% seems an unfair deal. Even though Swindon did get a 30 goal striker in the deal.
