Anyone wondered how the police were able to state the fans who rushed the turnstiles didn’t have tickets?
To be fair that's a fairly logical assumption to make. You're clutching at straws with that one.

The police really don’t help themselves do they?
I remember the dark days of the 70s and 80s. What I saw some police do in those years made me form a negative view of them which I’ve never been able to completely shake off.
When you see stuff like this, it really makes me wonder if they have changed at all.....

Yeah, The police are either liars or incompetent fantasists. I'm not sure which is worse.
Didn't the police of the 70s and beyond have allegiances to any clubs? They either didn't care about football so couldn't give a monkey's nuts about the fans...or they did enjoy football but just became power-mad thugs in uniform. Pleas,e it would be interesting to know as someone who wasn't around in those years. No sympathy for the fans, and it's starting to become more apparent again in police-supporter relations.
Police lie about football fans shock
The police panicked, and this was a way to justify the heavy handed policing.( and I'm not excusing the HF for any shenanigans)
As I've said before if Palace want to have a better Brighton away experience then don't behave like 12 year-old bell-ends.

So it was an assumption that was reported as a fact?
don't be silly that was essential improvement works to the pristine Arthur wait bonfire collection of aged timberLikewise with your lot at Selhurst.
Don't forget that this fake news probably went around the world and damaged the rep of the clubs and English football in general. Its both embarrassing and damaging. Both clubs must be pissed off and rightly so.
Does it matter? Why would anyone who had a ticket storm the gate? It's hardly in the same league as saying you had weapons as evidence and then trying to claim that the Albion had them before finally admitting that you completely made it up.
Maybe because the game had started ? A gate opens, the first thing you want to do is get to your seat (or someone elses, if you're in a black hoody).

Maybe not to you but I prefer the police to not make assumptions in any press release, big or small.
Reporting that it was ticketless fans storming the turnstiles justifies their behaviour and conveniently draws attention away from the point that their earlier actions might possibly have contributed to the subsequent scenes.
I’ll leave it there because it sounds like I’m trying to justify the fans rushing the door, which I’m not.
